New forum section ideas

we've been getting lots of ideas about this kind of stuff lately, and i think i've narrowed it down to some section names that make sense, and dont have that sense of vagueness - do i put a question about a soundcard in 'general audio' or 'general hardware' ?

My suggestions are as such:

Portable Gadgets and Home Entertainment.

Portable gadgets covers phones, PDA's, music players, portable gaming consoles. Anything you can take with you, is covered here. No overlap with any of the existing forum sections.

Home entertainment covers audio (home cinema/surround sound setup, as well as PC oriented stuff), games consoles, HDTV choices, projectors, and that kind of thing.
It also doesnt conflict much with existing sections, except for the blurry line with monitors and HDTV's filling the same role in some setups.

i'd think they'd go more in general hardware - maybe rename that to general PC hardware?

OK. My friend considers his EEEPC a gadget, but I dunno really. Maybe a netbook would be, but I have a hard time considering my 14" laptop a "gadget".

hence calling it home entertainment, and not audio. covers a broader range.

Any laptop can be portable even mine even though i need to be a weight lifter to carry it.

I voted in the positive dont see any reason why not im sure it would be quite popular.

hmmm...

portable gadgets is the one that really has my attention as a 'needed' section, since we have nowhere to discuss phones + MP3 players on forum.

anyone got ideas to replace home entertainment, that doesnt conflict with general hardware?

This is why I like Kriej's idea of Gadgets and Peripherals.

There are enough A/V forums elsewhere for home entertainment and sound stuff. I never looked at TPU as a home entertainment website. Sound cards are a topic that come up from time to time but they fit fine in general hardware.

General hardware can cover many things that the other forums don't cover and that's good. I'd rather the main forum layout keep as simple as possible. Once another forum gets added, another one will be brought up to be added, and again and again.

This is why gadgets and peripherals works. Just a peripherals section wouldn't be worth it, but with the advent of all of these new smartphones (which are like mini pc's) and other gadgets that we use with our PC's there should be enough traffic to keep a "Gadgets and Peripherals" section busy while keeping the General Hardware section busy.

If there isn't a section, put it in General Hardware. It's not like there's SO much traffic in there that stuff gets buried within days.
