AMD recently reduced prices for about 20 of its desktop processors. According to sources from motherboard players, the price cuts are aimed at defending against competition from Intel.

AMD's quad-core Athlon II X4 640 CPU has seen its price drop from US$122 to US$99, while the dual-core Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition CPU dropped from US$105 to US$93, and the quad-core Phenom II X4 955 and 965 Black Edition both dropped US$26. Most of the company's other processors have seen drops up to US$10.

I find that incredibly offending. I enjoy buying a lesser processor for the same price as a better processor. :slap: I'm going to go for a drive now to settle down and calm my nerves. I love my car, it's a Toyota Camry that I bought from a Porsche dealer used car lot for the price of a new Camry. Good day sir!

+1

Thats my main stiple with AMD's lineup, they don't let up on the prices.....even a year later! Which is why I'm getting rid of my 5850 and waiting for the refresh come at the end of the year.
I still don't require anything powerful enough to use a 5850 right now, but next year I will have use for something that powerful or more once the games I am anticipating come out ;)

We are talking about gaming. AMD always does well in that comparison. It wins some, loses some, and ties most. For the price to performance in games, insanely is the work to use.

Second hand the x4 965/955 are really cheap and they are BE they make decent gaming rigs, also those x6s are nice but $100 more for a BE is stupid! I hate how AMD release so many similar CPU with like 100mhz of difference or something.

Come on! sly AMD bashing? You guys :shadedshu

Also wish they would drop the card prices since the GTX460 came out its practically took over the price to performance ratio in mid range. £220 for a 5850 is still a bit much compared to £165 for a 1gb Palit GTX460
