me too. i am fairly positive they have been working on a native version for quite some time. of course, these guys are most likely lying anyway if they don't want people knowing about it yet. i will keep my fingers crossed.

That's why I asked... isn't Steam only as good as the platform on which the games it delivers support?

Based on the Steam model it could be any type of e-delivery based software. Hmmmm...

are you really that narrow minded? i would most definitely be a gamer using linux than PC if i had the option. there are already a slew of free games out for linux that are older and some that are newer. also, just because linux users are accustomed to not paying for stuff does not mean they won't pay for stuff... in fact, the money they would save on not paying for a windows license, and other licensed software they could spend on games!

Don't see why Valve needs to go through making there games as well as everything else compatible with an OS that probably has around 1% of market share(which the majority of that small percentage aren't gamers anyways). Pointless imo.

If Valve does make it compatible, then thats great, but imo it's a waste of time.

this has nothing to do with saving money or spending money. this has to do with bringing a content delivery system and some games to an open source platform for the first time ever. it is about looking into the future and making a bold decision to buck the trend of the microsoft PC gaming monopoly and opening up competition. if valve does this i will buy as many titles that will be available for linux as possible.

Even if you take the most optimistic poll data which puts Mac OS X at under 12% and Linux at under 2%, it is really a mystery why Valve even decided to support Mac OS X. There's simply no money to be made in Linux.
