Need Help Purchasing A New Graphic Card + Power Supply

Hello.
I am deciding that is time to update my graphic card and my power supply. I have some question and some help from you to help me decide to get the latest and good graphic card on a good money budget value.

My resolution is 1440x900. I play several games and looking for a graphic card that can at least handle with high settings at this resolution.
I did some research and found a couple of review and feedback about ATI 5750. My question is, is this card worth the money for gaming? The game i usually play is MW2 (the one i have trouble playing max settings with my current graphic card) TF2, League of Legends, and possibly the new upcoming game Call of Duty Blackops.

Will ATI 5750 worth the money and run all my games smooth or there is another better graphic card out there that outperforms this one?
Currently i also need to uppgrade to a new power supply. Any recommendation of a power supply and a graphic card?


My money budget is up to $250 max for both items.

Any help and comment will really appreciate it.

5750 MW2 Benchmark at THG

The Rosewill RG630-S12 is a great PSU for the money. Worth considering (reviewed at HS).

For under $250 you could also get the RG630-S12 plus a 5770.

Most people here will recommend the 650TX over the RG630-S12, because Corsair has a great reputation and Rosewill's rep is so-so (for good reason). Some of Rosewill's PSUs are iffy. The RG630-S12 is an exception and offers top bang for the buck. Personally, if I were on a $250 budget, I wouldn't bother with the 650TX as it's just not necessary. Either option will give you adequate, solid, reliable power.

So far as I've read the difference isn't that big and apparently both overclock quite well. It should come down to only a few FPS difference in most new games.

I was just checking on slickdeals.net and apparently the HD 5770 has hit $110 AR, which is pretty impressive (source). The cheapest I've found the HD 5750 is $120.

Cauz my system spect is quite low.

Duo Core E5200 2.5Ghz
4GB of RAm
XFX 9400 GT

And a crappy motherboard and a power supply. So i was thinking to get a small upgrade, like a graphic card and power supply. will the game still run smooth with my other low end hardware after i purchase the new graphic card and power supply?

^^ I'll second that. Your system plus a 5770 will give you the performance you're looking for. Upgrading from a 9400GT, you will really appreciate the difference.

A quick check of requirements mixed with some benches of World at War mixed with the fact that it's a console game ported to PC would lead me to believe that it should play decently on your computer. I would guess around 40FPS average (if not better) on your computer at the stated resolution with most settings maxed out.

I think it's a Sirtec-made unit (not sure) and I would personally not trust my system to it until seeing at least one review testing its voltage regulation and noise/ripple. It may well be just fine, but try and get some more info first.

However that particular PSU does have a hell of a track record with that many reviews on newegg and 74% of them are 5-star.

I think it's worth noting that the HD 5830 has dropped to around $160 a couple times on newegg recently. IMO a better card than the HD 5770. Not worth the extra money though unless you're planning to buy an HD 5770 around $150. If you can get an HD 5770 for $130 I'd go with the HD 5770.

a Corsair 400-450w can easily power a 5750 or 5770 or even a GTX 460 if you like.

And i have yet to OC e5200 because i have a stock cooler.

And you sure a corsair 430W run a gtx 460? I heard 460 temperature are insane on gaming mode.

I am probably staying with 5770.

I am still undecided whether i should get GIGABYTE GV-R577SO-1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit ... or SAPPHIRE 100283-3L Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR...

A GTX 460 consumes a maximum of ~150w, and that's under full load. Even a Corsair 400CX could power your computer + a GTX 460 (the 400CX has been tested as being capable of putting out ~480w of power but it would do the job even if it were only good for 400w).

A 5770 consumes a maximum of ~80w, again under full load.

Keep in mind that many of the power consumption numbers you see online for various components, actually reflect the whole system's power consumption, not just that of the component being tested. There are few reviewers who measure component-only power consumption. XBit Labs is one of those few and they do a good, thorough job.

Also, be aware that [in my opinion] online PSU calculators are rubbish, as are most manufacturer PSU recommendations (both the former and the latter tend to significantly overestimate PSU needs). This may be to compensate for the many PSUs out there which are rubbish as well, unable to put out the continuous power their manufacturers claim.

There are two main legitimate reasons to get a more powerful PSU than you need: first, to leave room for future upgrades (self-explanatory), and secondly to get higher efficiency (efficiency of the conversion from AC input power to DC power for the computer). Consider a computer that consumes 500w on average (a rare computer indeed, but useful for illustrating this point). Say you're considering two PSUs for it: a Corsair 520HX or 1000HX.

At ~500w output, the 520HX is ~82% efficient whereas the 1000HX is ~85% efficient. So, for a computer consuming 500w of DC power, the HX520 would draw 22w more AC electricity from the outlet. That's 22w more heat in your computer, translating to a potentially louder fan and higher electric bill. Depending on circumstances like the electricity cost in your area and how long you keep the PSU, the more efficient one may or may not pay for itself.

Bear in mind, however, that your computer doesn't idle anywhere close to its maximum load power consumption. Your system with a 460 might draw around 100w at idle, and it's bound to spend more time at idle than at max load. Keep that in mind when looking at PSU efficiency.

best option is to go for what i advice you should do,get the corsair 430w and the GTX460,your comp be all good to go and be able to enjoy any game out there at your resolution apart from metro 2033 in dx11*even 5970 etc struggles to run that game*.
The corsair 400-430w is a great choice,its more than capable of running the 460 easy,the 460 only uses same amount of power as a 4850 or something but only difference between 2 is the 460 uses 2 6pin power connector and 4850 uses 1 and you can run a 4850 on the corsair 400w no problems.

the ones he linked isn't worth the money though in my opinion since for extra $10 you can get a card like the GTX460,specially the gigabyte one
