I skimmed through all the other posts and read Doom 3 and Quake 4. You bastards need to move on. Those games do not stand the test of time imo. haha

Yup, that's it, you just skimmed. I said it's a game I used to play and that I didn't like it. I simply related it to the problem that our OP is having here. Try reading posts properly and not getting people's backs up the minute you join a forum, eh?

And so what if someone likes to play an old game? I still play UT sometimes, because it's awesome and it came out in 1999! :)

Well I only joined this forum to help the TS so this is the last time you will ever hear from me. I am going to enjoy my silky smooth gameplay at max settings. HAHA

Hey guys, poking back in with a visual to kind of describe what at least I am experiencing, this is with a single 460gtx and only started after adding that card.

Read the description for a little explanation, other games that do this are half life 2 and WoW.

While other games like FEAR, Starcraft 2, and guild wars do not.

Update:

I found a solution(more of a bandaid fix) but somehow it works for me, the official and beta drivers stutter, BUT I installed the ones from the CD that came with the card... and all my major problems are gone(almost). The only thing that still "skips frames" randomly is WoW, but all I mentioned and Assassins creed 2 play MUCH better now.

Now I can play Dead Rising 2, Mafia 2, RE5, and Just Cause 2 either completely maxed out (except physx on Mafia) and it's smooth as silk.

PhysX in Mafia II is a joke. Most poorly designed PhysX implementation by far yet. When they recommend a GTX 285 for PhysX, you know that is poor optimization. Hopefully they will patch this like GTA IV to improve performance.

Disable the cloth physics on everyone but Vito and it's great.

Should never have to turn down settings to get the game to run right. If the cloth physics are the biggest problem then patches should remedy that.

They won't. It's payable with the highest end hardware. Perhaps they'll find a way to optimize it though. That's PhysX for you.

Should run close to 60FPS on my rig. Some improved PhysX implementation is all I need. ^^

I am getting the Same exact Stuttering .7 issues, and I have an I7 with a GTX 470. WTF is going on. Is there any fix for this that someone ahs actually figured out.

Ignore my signature I haven't updated it in Ages.

Does anyone know what specific security update is causing the issue?

Maybe it is a core synchronization issue with the i7. My Phenom II X2 had that problem big time.

same thing, its actually a bit more noticeable since everything is super silky smooth, so a tiny stutter every .7 seconds sticks out like a sore thumb... even with 8 fps render ahead and triple buffering.

also tried enabling/disabling multi-threaded support. In the panel and in the game.
also reverting everything to default in nvidia control panel does nothing.
tried different PCI-e speeds from 100mhz all the way up to 125mhz. no difference. running at 2.0 16x GPU-Z shows everything to be peachy.

can anyone with the new 260.3 drivers and a gtx 470 verify if they get this in vantage? Just a yes/no so i can see the system specs to see the difference in hardware.

i'm still using 190.62 xp x64 so far it's far stable than any newer driver.

I don't think an Antec SmartPower 550 Watt cuts it for a GTX 470.

I really wish someone could figure this out. I mean this sucks big time. When you spend 1K on a new system, which includes, new ram, new motherboard, new case, new video card. I am so angry. I can't get this to STOP stuttering.

I'm not stuttering and I have a 470 on 260.63. Maybe it's some settings you have enabled?
