Down at bottom of the page the down load link is....

Sadly I have down loaded this and it does not work for me. It seems that there are allot of people with this problem.

But I would like to confirm this with you folks.

So if you have a 6870 please let me know if you can overclock with voltage control.

Otherwise if you can't at least here is the new beta.....

Here's the link to download it. Don't have a 68X0 series card to help you out but will try out the new version @ home on my card.

There should be an option within settings that needs checked concerning the voltage.

Well sure I know I have been doing voltage control on cards for quite a while with MSI AB. But even with those settings checked still nothing.

I even went into the CFG file and tried to manually set the options. Still nothing but thatnks for the link bud.....:toast:

Wasn't working for me.

Voltage adjustments only for 6850. But 6870 has the same voltage regulator :ohwell:

Seems to work for a Sapphire 6850, but the voltage is limited to 1.25v and the GPU clock is still limited to 850 MHz.

*edit

Not sure if it does actually work, Kombuster still shows 1.15v with 1.25v selected and applied in Afterburner.

Sapphire bundles in its TRIXX utility that enables control over the fan speed, GPU voltage, and core and memory clocks for the 68xx cards so have you tried that.

On MSIAfterburner.cfg, change this line: EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1

Same here, Trixx was nowhere to be found on the packaged CD and cannot be downloaded from Sapphire's website yet. Kinda underhanded for Sapphire to ship their press samples with software that isn't available for retail cards yet.

Thanks for the tip on Afterburner

This is good for a start. There's one hour of MSI's Kombustor stability test on a Sapphire HD 6850 @ 945|1150 default voltage. Peak load was 68C. I used 80% fan speed because I didn't want to get screwed by thermals at like 55mins into the test.

http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/1968/6850oc.jpg

I'm testing 990|1150 1.250 mV now.

The highest game stable I've been been able to go with the Sapphire 6850 is 875 core @ 1.25v and 1075 memory. Anything more and BC2 starts having problems.

Good job Charly! I can´t pass the 1000MHz barrier for the core, someone knows if the clock it´s limited in the VGA BIOS? Bye!

Well we don't know that yet really.... I am very frustrated with that. The reason is we (6870 owners) don't have anyway to do any real over clocking yet. For example..... we can't adjust our voltages yet.

All the Major (good) apps don't support 6870 voltage adjustments yet. But in reviews were the card has good cooling and the capability to do voltage adjustments.... the 6870 overclocks very well. Have heard and read about 6870's above 1100 Mhz.

I am actually holding off on my review of my cards right now because of no real way to do any overclocking worth reporting.

Sure Asus has Smart Doctor but that is limited by Asus.... so flashing my BIOS over to that would be a waist.

What us the (6870) owners have to look out for is MSI AB or Trixx to finally become available. Unless Wizzard wants to make his copy of GPU Tool public.
But once MSI AB and Trixx become available we will have just as much fun!

Damn sapphire :banghead: I was happy to see the trixx sticker on my 6870's boxes to take a look on the web site and find nothing, i then thought oh it must be included on the cd.... installed a cd drive to find nothing on the cd :banghead:

I have failed to find anything that lets me increase the voltage and i get artifacts in 3dmark06 if i try to move up to 980mhz or above with stock volts although furmark and ati tool show none all the way up to the 1ghz limit, I'm sure 1ghz 3dmark stable would be easy with a tiny bit more voltage but I'm sat here waiting for the ability

So if there is no 6870 support even though "enable unofficial overclocking" and "enable voltage adjustment" is done, silly question I know, but if the voltage controller is really the same, has anyone just tried adding the device ID....RV940 = 6738......... or 6738h to the bottom of the RTcore.cfg file? Maybe MSI/NVidia don't want the 6870 to come too close to the next offering up!

No I have not tried it yet... I am kind of waiting for other solutions until I find out what is going on with MSI AB or TriXX.
I mean if I need to I will flash the BIOS or mod it somehow of course. Maybe even try modding the Card ID.
But right now I am looking for the easiest solution. But it looks like possibly soon I will have no other choice.

Just for information sake.... Here is what the Creator of MSI AB said why there is no voltage control for the 6870....

All supported voltage control capable cards are calibrated in Afterburner's hardware database, containing expectec voltrage controller model, voltage controller connection (I2C address), default voltages, safe voltage adjustment ranges etc. I don't have 6870 in my hands to fill this part of database myself, so you've to wait either while my 6870 sample arrive or while MSI add this info to the database on their side.

So it looks like it will happen eventually but it might not be soon???? Who knows???

I just took a look and it seams to have "RV940 = 6739h" at the end of the list of ati cores, is that just the 6850 or something? It's kinda confused me as to how to add what you suggested, would it be RV940 = 6739h, 6738h? or should it just be RV940 = 6738h?

The one on the list is the 6850..... seems as i was being silly.....it's far more complex than a simple device ID!

I gave it a try and it had no effect :( i know i should be happy with 975mhz on stock volts but i can't help myself, i always want more :D

I was hoping that if the 6850 has the same voltage regulation hardware it could be that simple :( oh well, i hope some company comes out with something that works, I'm just unhappy with sapphire for tricking me into thinking i had trixx included with my cards

I don't know if this will help any of you but I was playing with Beta 2 and checked the voltage option within settings. When I tried with my 5870 I still couldn't adjust the voltage setting. Looking in the MSIAfterBurner.cfg file I changed both UnlockVoltageControl and UnlockVoltageMonitoring from 0 to 1. Now I'm back to changing voltage:

Stock is 1.162 and here I changed it to 1.200:
