Microsoft is looking to dominate the future of technology when it unveils its first commercially available operating system for robots. Yes, you did read that correctly. Named "Microsoft Robotics Studio", this Windows-based platform intends to let people program their robots in a simple way. If you're thinking "will this work with my robot?" then you may be glad to hear it works with such hardware as iRobot's Roomba or Lego Mindstorm's NXT Tribot. It will be free for non-commercial use, but if businesses want to take advantage of it they will have to pay $399 for a license. So when someone learns how to hack your robot you could soon see it running out of the house with your wallet.

P.S.=> This stuff IS really the future, & ROOMBA's mentioned above ARE truly an example, as well as industrial robots, but also those "Cybie Dogs", a children's toy (but, FULLY programmable too)...

E.G.-> For home security? Well, hook those Cybie Dogs up & have them patrol your home, w/ stunguns, & the fact they can "talk" to one another over RFI?? Well... you know! apk

My future self just dropped by an told me this will lead to a war between mankind and robots. I guess I have to kill bill gates or something. I hate when this happens, it seems like once a week now. I really should never have made that time machine, seemed like a good idea at the time though.

Go back and tell yourself not to make it, that should solve everything. But I wouldn't lose sleep over it, if they're powered by M$ then they'll probably stop half way through the war and project some BSOD saying that the IRQ is not less or equal to something else...

no worries

im sure apple will release a similiar robot OS and it will turn out that all those robots are hippies who only drink free trade coffee and pick flowers all day which will infuriate the m$ robots.

Well I can't go back before I built it, it's one of the rules of time travel. Plus the money I save on late fees at the move store is worth it.
My self told me the only weapons against them are the Linux gun[ free stuff drains there power],the fake update bomb and pop-up rays. I don't think I'll kill bill. Gas cost to much an a robot war sound pretty cool. If I've learned anything form Tv it's girls that fight robots are hot with very little cloth.

Microsoft are trying to get people hooked into their software yet again so when Robot programming becomes the norm the already have their grip on the prefered software of choice, i hope a rival linux company does something similar to rival this.
