Please help! Upgrading from 5770 crossfire

Hi there. Is the 5770x2 really worth it over the 6870?

Lower power consumption, driver compatibility and performance are my reasons to upgrade/downgrade.

My retailer told me that I'll just add Php1k-2k ($25-$40 USD) if I'll trade in my 5770x2 to a single 6870. So, is it more practical to trade in to 6870 or I'll just keep my crossfired 5770 or wait for the 69xx series to arrive? I don't know much about the 69xx series yet but I guess I'm going to add more than $100 to upgrade when they come out and that's expensive for me. But I think 69xx are like 225w-300w? Just wanna ask. Thanks!:)

If you're really wanting to upgrade I would just wait and get a 6950.

The only benefit you get by going to a 6870 is not having to worry about needing crossfire profiles to use both GPUs. I really see no reason to go to a 6870 especially with the 6950 coming. Plus it should give you an actual performance upgrade.

Thanks!:) Because I was thinking about 6870's tdp compared to 5770s in crossfire. So, I guess I have to wait. Do you have any idea about the upcoming 6950 about its price and tdp? I'm thinking that its lower than 225w with a price of $350..

Well I know there are some slides floating around that say <225w so two 6-pins should be enough.

$350 in my opinion is a pipe dream. I'd expect at least $400 but I'm guessing around $450 since I'm sure the 6970 will be no less than $500. I would expect the 6950 to run against the up coming GTX 570 when it does show up. It maybe a little closer to $400 if 6970 can't be the GTX 580 but from all the rumors it seems like that is less than likely hence my $500 for it.

Thanks.:) I hope the price will be right for the 6950. $350 is gonna be affordable but it could become higher since the $500 release of the gtx 580. I'm gonna save some extra cash again if it will be at the $400 price point. I hope that the 69xx series is gonna be cheaper but faster and at least lower than 225w.
