It's been a couple of years since i got a new video card so i think i have neglected that part of my PC for long enough, im looking for a decent $100 DX11 video card to move on to. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which video card i would see the most improvement from?
Thx.

a 5770 would be a relatively small upgrade but for that budget there is not too much to choose from.

I recommend the GTX 460 768MB or HD6850 at least, but like guitarfreaknation mentioned, you don't really have much of a choice with $100:( unfortunately:cool:

Sell your 4850 and add that on top of the $100 to get at least a 6850

I'd stick with the 4850 and save up some more.
I'd say you should still be playing games with decent frames at your screen res.

I know I am.

Yes, the frame rate is pretty good, but i thought i might be able to pick something better up and play see the purty DX11 graphics

i like the E3110 at 4.4ghz :)

Thanks, Got that on air too, tho now i have it clocked down to 4Ghz@stock voltage for day to day use as it just uses too much power. I do crank it up to that speed for some games and encoding. I was hoping for 4.5Ghz but i could never get it rock solid stable at that speed :(

Personally, I agree with Widjaja - keep your 4850 until you really feel the burn. What resolution are you playing on, 1366 x 768?

1440x900, i'm not noticing any real bad frame rates, i just have a hundred bucks or two to spend on my comp and i can;t think what to do.

i7's are still too pricey. A new mobo would be nice, but if i go that route i may as well get an i7 mobo, i was also thinking a new monitor, but this one is still good and i don't have room on my desk to dual screen. I guess i will just put it in the bank until i can afford something more substantial.

Definitely the best course of action in my opinion. You'll be pleased you held out.

Save for a 6850/8670, as those are ~100 resp. ~150 euro, so once the 6770 will be sub-100 if you're lucky, and that will be a better upgrade than a 5770 imo. Most likely faster and more economical.

Few typos there dude. Slightly confusing post, d'you mean 6850/6870 instead of 6770 and 8670?

a 5770 would be a relatively small upgrade but for that budget there is not too much to choose from.

With that budget I would save your money...

I went from a 512mb 4850 to a 1gb 5770 and I didn't really gain very much at all minus some heat drop and power consumption.

I might gain more once I re-flash my card with some better clock speeds...
But I'm pretty angry at myself I didn't spend the few bucks to get at least a 5830.

8670 --> 6870
6770 --> correct, because I was estimating the price of a 6770 (once it's released) based on the current price of the 6850/6870 (plus the expected price drop of the latter cards once they release the HD 6xxx cards that aren't on the market yet).

Is my post clear now?

Another reason for saving up is from what I have remembered as GPUs go and new DXes being released.....more often than not the mid range cards which have new DX capabilities generally perform more low end with the new DX.
So yes you will be experiencing the new DX but whether the frame rates will be enough for you to enjoy is another question.

I am just guessing here as I do not have a DX11 card yet.

Haha, i ain't spending that much on a hooker!!!111!

Yea, i think i will wait if the performance of the latest mid-range cards is comparable to yesterdays high end cards. I have been out of the scene for a while and i guess i assumed things were moving faster than they are. Also the number evolution they have started using seems a little misleading.

Thx for all your help

Really is, a clever marketing move for those people that don't know that the 6850 is actually the 6770.
