The reason why I'm asking is because I can get 2 GTX 460 1GB's for about $350 but I don't wanna do that when Cayman is around the corner. My max budget is gonna be $400. Do you think that will be enough for a 6970?

Well if it's around $650 I'll take a 6990, however if the 6970 is faster in XFIRE I will take two of them :) ...Still too early to decide...must need more input [o o]

I think unlike the launch of the 5 series AMD won't sell themselves short this time. They could probably easily afford to sell the 6970 at $380, but it will most likely perform well enough that it will be priced against the 580. Your only hope is if nvidia wants to start a price war... which I highly doubt they do.

we are getting right royally screwed here in Oz then. $499 for a $580 in the states? $699 here at the moment. and thats with the Aussie buying $0.9930US so if thats pricing is right roughly $600 here for a 6970. Hopefully after the 6970 is released those prices will drop like a stone

Oh shit, I was thinking maybe they'd be cheaper by $50 each! I guess I was expecting too much. :)

Dunno about price wars though. It might happen, like when Ati released the first batches of 6***.

didn't you said you want to go green this time?:confused:

I do man but the 580 is just so damn expensive and honestly I was underwhelmed with the performance.

If the 6950 is as fast as its "sounding" to be then I would be a fool to go green this time.

Considering it's going to be around the speed of a $499 GTX 580 it sounds reasonable.

Yeah thinking the same the 6670 being about $450\$500 with the 6990 around $600\$650.

I am just waiting for it to get released already so i can find out if i want to pick one up early next year lol.

So basically, 6970 would give performance around 6850CF, right? (taking the SPs into consideration, of course the mem bandwitdh isn't twice...) So it should be well cheaper than two 6850's, which is about $400 or less.

I'd say,
6950 = 299 or 329
6970 = 399
6990 = 499 or 549

Even if it did the 6870 be the better option as CF is not always guaranteed percentages.

192 shaders x 2 v's 480 shaders ( if specs are true what BT posted ) i know which one i pick for sure. 6870 having more shaders got to help and being a single GPU so no worry about CF performance.

So 6870 all the way and i think it be more than $400 but will see soon ( I HOPE ).

£350-400 would be good. Then i could get a 990fx, 8-core zambezi and a 6970 for £800ish.

Power Supply Forton Blue Storm II 500W
Software Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
£350-400 would be good. Then i could get a 990fx, 8-core zambezi and a 6970 for £800ish.

249-299 would be much better :D
