TPU Forums Need a Facelift!

i have no problems making small changes step by step if someone thinks them through and the community likes them.

i'm not gonna make a change just for it to look different. it has to be better.

Exactly, it has to look better... an upgrade, not a sidegrade

The banner could be redone indeed, perhaps small adjustments to the current look, but I do not see anything else to do... No MAJOR changes or anything, just details

so far the old banner is nice, its combination between grey and blue, but i guess the blue color is like grey-ish,
red and black looks nice, actually this forum need 'calm' color red and black kinda strong and provocative, beside that if it changed maybe it wont match to the whole TPU scheme

Here's something subtle, side by side look at a slight gradient effect on the blue and gray bars. It's nothing major, just adds a little life or modern pop to it.

simply redoing it with clearer, less fuzzy graphics should be sufficient.

facelift, could be, minor upgrade like glass look icon it would be great

I'm quite happy with the current logo. The blue background is easy on the eye and the font has a pleasing 50's retro feel.

Would a mobile version of tpu be alot of work?
If not that would definately be nice, the fourms are fine on mobile but the front page never seems to scale right .

As for the look i like it its simple easy to read tho as others have mentioned theres some things that could use a minor touchup.

we've covered it before, essentially its too much work, and paying someone else to do the work (such as using a prebuilt thingy) is a nogo due to security reasons.

On a related note, might be nice to get a better quality icon on this. The dithering ruins the glass effect.

Admittedly that is a very nice, clean, easy to read, fast loading forum. But to make that color scheme work you'd pretty much have to rip their entire theme which is just a dick move.

I agree on that one the thing about that web-site is its very bark and when i spend 2 or
3 hours on there and my eyes adapt two the bark Colours and then go back on google or any where Bright it just kills my eyes,

I like the lay out on t.p.u its simple two Navigate from Start Only Niggle i have is the
User pro-file set up looks old school But saying that this places Aint bebo or facebook
LIke must would like two see that type pro-file style lay out on Here from what i read.

Um, well if you actually make something for people to see, perhaps they'll like it? Otherwise it's all just talk. People don't respond very well to idle talk and no product. Get it done. You started this.. finish it.

It's a forum, there isn't a world you can do really.
It's efficient and clean, works for me.

Although I would still like a "dark" type theme option as I work a lot in a dark room and the brightness of my monitor can get annoying sometimes.

Okay so we keep the current forum theme, but for a new banner, something simple, clean, and not over-the-top.

I was thinking something with the front page logo, but it's really obvious that font doesn't match. But that's just down to tweaking, here's what it would look like. Not bad.

The font matches, it's just not exact. Though to make it exact I could put some more time into it.

I personally like it, but this is definitely a common-wealth situation.

I like the font, I just don't like the plain background. The background adds character.
How about trying something like a very light white to gray fade of zeros and ones like in The Matrix?
I always thought of being on TPU as being in the matrix.

remember to make it a really light pic the issue with quality is that we cant just use a 3mb png. it will load after the forums and that will make the site look sloppy/broken. so try doing stuff like glass effects/highrez in jpeg small as best as possible.

I agree with W1zzard, if you are going to change you must do it in babysteps.

I was(am) a mod at Pimprig. We changed our name so we could get more sponsers .. now we are dead, and the site is in ruins...

That's why I offered a .png and a .jpg version. I think the .jpg version is 29kb.

The fonts are nice. It needs a background like the current background to go with it but you have a good starting point.

.jpg's are terrible no matter what. I saved at the highest possible quality, that's how it turned out. Looks decent, IMO. Not .png quality, but not bad.
