Home build wont start up

I am building my first computer and I have very little experience with putting computers together. I put everything together except i left the CD drive out for now. I have double checked every connection and made sure that the psu switch was on and the psu was plugged in. When I press the power button, all that happens is a few blue LEDs light up on the front door of the case. The fans do not go on and nothing comes up on the screen. Not even the CPU fan starts up and it is plugged into the MB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. - I am unsure if I plugged the fans in right. There are 4 fans and I chained them all together male connector to female connector, but the last fan still has an unused female connector sticking out.

Case: Raidmax Smilodon
PSU: Came with case
HDD: WD 640 GB SATA
RAM:A-DATA - 2GB x2
MB: ASRock H55M Pro
CPU: Intel i3

What wattage is the PSU And what brand ? Are you sure all the power connections are plugged in on your MB ? I would also check your Button connections ( Power ,reset and HDD light and power LED light ) Just connect the power switch first then once you get it started you can connect the others . Maybe causing your power up problem .

RAIDMAX RX-500S 500W ATX12V Power Supply and Biostar HD 5770 radeon video card (I put it in already). I tried disconnecting the reset switch and the LED but the fans still wont start and the screen still has nothing coming up.

What is the 4/8 pin?

Normally the 4/8 pin connector is in the upper left corner of the MB . it will be the reason you MB is not powering up then .

Unplug everything and short the green and black on the 24 pin and see if it stays on

I am not sure this is a good idea for some one so new to building a computer . Maybe a good Idea to send a picture to him of what you are talking about . :eek:

Bah your no fun let's see the setup first I still think its a cord short.

Honestly try the troubleshooting tree in your mobo manual.

One of the pics is of some unplugged cords
Another is what might be the 4/8 connector, but not sure. Can you verify for me?
And the last is of the setup, not sure if u can see much

and the one that might be the 4/8 connector, the cord plugs into the socket that is in the background but there are still 4 sockets that are empty

It should be fine there are 4 left open most boards don't care.

You need to plug that 4 pin connector in . The MB and CPU have no power . For best results you should have an 8 pin connector plugged into the MB . This is why your computer is not powering up .

With a new PSU . But for now make sure you have at least the 4 pin plugged in . That will get you going .

I plugged the 4 pin in and still nothing happened.

Edit: Except the LEDs still came on

Ok next make sure your CPU is in right ( seated into the socket and HSF all seated and tight ). .

Try flipping the power/reset switch connectors the other way.
