Stuttering with 3 VGA : what is the cause ?

I ask for help at all!

Here's my story:

Currently I have a Sapphire 5870, I decided to see a 470 and then pay another to do with (the same identical among others) all three reference and the original bios from ATI and Nvidia.
Before all this though I had a GTX 260 and I had no problems (but I'm not sure, at time I had a different mobo and bios of the benchmark were different and no one finds more but I do not think you've had, however, cod4 and grid went well with only a slight stuttering BC2 battlefield but in Heaven 1.0 benchmark smoothly even under the 60 was ok).

By 5870 I have problems and I decided long ago to 470, but testing it I discovered that he had other more serious porblem while in the games I have not had the opportunity because they had not yet come out, but still underground and crysis for both cards turned always good and continue to run well even now, although well below 60, maybe le'ffetto blur that hides the fluidity?.

Back to us in the end I found that :

the 5870 goes wrong with the flash video (with several, other do not know why but it seems to run well, maybe my impression) creates conflicts with the CCC and Windows 7 (especially the last 2 WHQL sti left) and with games the only way fluids is to have them do the 60 fixed by enabling vsynch otherwise I microstuttering constant and ubiquitous when it falls below 60, and I also speak of the benchmark, that heaven is the vantage 2.1 under 60 are not so fluid then runs on 50-45 -40 or below you can see it now).
But WARNING the frames are there, and scores bech well, it's just too high with both frames vsynch ON or OFF must be like being in rames consistently low.

I purchased the 470 and:

With 470 driver 197.xxx with the original CD I had a problem, namely that when I went on the internet gave me lag and latency is too high and was unplayable in some games (just horrible) and others lose the connection every 5 min, I tried any of the games that have gone bad because now I had not left yet.

Now I am made to pay another 470 the same as before and:

With the 258.96 drivers if the latency is improved, however, a bad game that I first ran fine with the same vga is once ran like crap even frames fixed to 60. (Dirt, while the first two with 197.xxx was fine with a minimum of 60 frames and vsynch ON).

I currently have changed:

- Power supply
- SSD AHCI instead of a OLD Raptor Raid 0
- I also got a sound card x-fi thinking it was the realtek issue.
- RAM

It remains to exclude the VGA, the cpu and mobo, the OS should be ok, but it's been one year of time someone can help me?

Now I do not know what to do, the CPU how do you test? I tried LINX, memtest and prime95 blend for about 2 hours and all ok by the results and also to default was the same (even the temp ok).

Flash player not so unfortunately I had to try it on Nvidia (damn!) Because I have not noticed: what the problem was not known at the time so I considered not even exist.

i would guess you never properly uninstalled 1 driver to the next and thus youve run into issues somewhere on the forums theres a guide to properly uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but at this point im to lazy to find it.

Hi senna89 and welcome to the forum. :toast:

I'll +1 my two friends on reinstalling the drivers. Problems like this sometimes require a Windows reinstall to fix, too. Be prepared.

Finally complete your system specs in the User CP. Have a look under my forum name to see how this looks. It will help us to help you.

try to clean the old driver, uninstall and erase the registry that related to it (or using registry cleaner) then install the latest driver
btw, what resolution you are on? i guess with 470, its pretty fast enough to handle the display

try to re-route the cable first, tighten all the connection, the vga, the monitor cable, then clean the contact area and the slot
what about the lower resolution? is that still stuttering?
btw: stuttering on gaming or from the start, if gaming it could be from software/setting, if its from the start beside from software it could be from hardware too
i guess if you experience the same thing on previous monitor, the current monitor should be ok
i agree to recheck your psu since 470 draw much power
anyway have you check your bios, make it default then recheck on display part while change it into pciex
(you know its kinda make me go spinning :shadedshu)

I'm entirely confused at what your problem is.

-I see you referencing not being able to run the most unoptimized over the top benchmark smoothly
-Then you bring up internet lag?
-Then something about more internet lag with a different video card..

I'm lost.

i'm not frame rate problems !
my fps is everytime highter ! and in benchmark i do everytime high result.
the GPU utilization in game is every ok, no utilization issue.

My problem is :

in all games and benchmark whene the frame rate drop under 60 ( 58-59 or under ) start a Fu**ing stuttering, and i see the 3d scenes like 20-25 fps, only when the fps is stable to 60 fps with vsynch the 3d scene is perfect.

RESUME : i do many frames but i see like ridicoulous fps ! the game is perfect only when 60 fps stable and vsynch ok.

D3D override in my system is ridicoulous, WORK but stuttering is every here.

:banghead:

the problem is idipendent by 3d game setting, if the fps drops under 60, the stuttering is here !
without vsynch is unplayable, massive tearing !

I do Clear cmos and Qflash 10000 times.

the internet lag is probably a consequence of the PCI express high latency in DPC Latency Check application.

I had this problem only with GTX 470.

:wtf:

Internet lag is from a shitty connection, or something using your bandwith.. which is why im confused how ur linking it to ur video card

Your computers parts configuration would be helpful as well.

I agree you seem to need to clean the previous drivers completely and install the newest ones from scratch.

I noted that you did not say which ATI drivers you were using....so we need to know that as well.

Once you have posted your computer's parts, we can help better.

go into nvidia control panel and change maximum prerendered frames to 1 or 0 and see if it improves response rates in games

wait im confused, you are using 5870X3 or GTX470X3? either way change maximum prerendered frames to 1 or 0

Yes, that's right, you only get smooth, judder-free animation when the game draws a new picture at every vsync. With most LCD monitors today, that's 60Hz, so the game must draw a new picture at 60Hz and syncronized with the display too. If it's unsyncronized and draws faster or slower than 60Hz, you'll get judder and various other unpleasant animation artifacts, as you've noticed.

Obtaining a perfect frame rate is the whole point of spending a lot of money on a gaming computer. You can only achieve it with sufficient rendering power.

the internet lag is probably a consequence of the PCI express high latency in DPC Latency Check application.

I had this problem only with GTX 470.

What? :wtf:

You're confusing two entirely separate things here.

I RESUME ONLY FOR YOU !

i had 2*GTX 470 and 1*5870 and now 1*6950 ( @6970 ).

i had stuttering problem with all VGA in my system.

With only ATI i add to issue list 1 problem:

  • bad flash player playback with all driver or flash player versions.

With Nvidia GTX 470 i add to issue list 2 problems :

  • a high pci express latency ( i can see by DPC Latency check ) and this issue cause lag when i play in multiplayer mode. This issue was extreme in forceware 197.xx and better with 258.96

  • Low GPU usage in some games, i try to set 0 in pre-render frames but noting.

:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I had this issues since 14 MONTH, i have formatt 100000 times and i use all version of ati catalyst driver all over the world !!! driver or another software is not the problem.

I have :

Gigabyte p55 ud3r rev1.0 bios F8 ( clear cmos and @bios / Qflash used )
2*2GB Kingstone HyperX 1600 c8 ( before i have Patriot Viper II Sector 5 1333 cas6 but the situation is the same )
PSU Enermax MODU82+ 525W ( 1 years, never problems )
CPU Intel core i5 750@3.4Ghz ( stock setting is the same )
SSD OCZ Agility 2 90GB ( before i had 2*Raptor 36GB Raid 0 and the situation is the same )
Segate 7200 320Gb SATA 2( storage )
controller XBOX 360
Mouse Pleomax ( USB ) and keyboard Microsoft ( economic )

My Used VGA : Zotac GTX 260 ( the first used with original f2 Mobo bios and i think no problem ), Sapphire 5870 ( used with all bios - i update the mobo bios to use it - the start of problems ), Gainward GTX 470 reference ( return to nvidia but dont work perfect like 260 ), Sapphire 6950 ( now - same same to 5870 like twins ).
:)

If you have had this problem for 14months then i would say your problem is down to something else, Maybe some dodgy program running in the background or a weak PSU.

It would also help if you filled out your full system spec.

The DPC latency checked Senna's referring to appears to be this:

www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

Id almost bet money that its just his internet connection...

He said he lags only in multiplayer portions of the games, I honestly think he's making a mountain out of an ant hill and wont accept that his internet is the reason for the lag.

Id almost bet money that its just his internet connection...

He said he lags only in multiplayer portions of the games, I honestly think he's making a mountain out of an ant hill and wont accept that his internet is the reason for the lag.

Yeah, I agree. He seems to be mightily confused and English is obviously not his first language, which is making a mess of the whole problem reporting and troubleshooting process here, unfortunately.

hmm 525w psu definetly no where near enough for 2x 470s in SLI the single 5870 should have run no issue flash player screw up well i know adobe was patching issues in flash not to long ago and i had stuttering for awhile but after updating drivers and updating flash the issue ceased. single 6900 should run fine as well. hmm eitherway like the others i barely understand whats going on here due to language barrier issues

Multiplayer MODE is OK perfect with ATI RADEON card, with Nvidia is orrible, i changed vga 3-4 times a distance of 15-20 minutes each and with Nvidia the multiplayer is orrible with some games and unplayable with others.

With update driver from 197.xxx to 258.96 the situation is impressive better but not ok.
i tell to all you that this problem is probabily a high latency of pci express cause by nvidia driver.

BUT this is the last of my problem, my principal problems are : bad flash player playback and stuttering or another problems with all vga !

I had ADSL 8Mb and 10ms to PING !!!!!
with ATI i play online very well and before when i had GTX 260 i playd very well.
