so my uncle in new york is looking for a gaming card for his son, and wanted me to tell him the best card for the $$$. I was thinking about the nvidia 460 gtx 768 mb for $90 but I really don't know much about the ATI side since i haven't really looked into video cards greatly, so i might be missing something good from the ATI side. Is there anything better deal than this? i hear ATI cards are cooler and less power consumers than those nvidia cards.

I would just go with what you picked, a GTX 460 will play almost all new games with ease on medium/high settings

the gtx 460 is pretty good for the money. on the ati side you should look at either the 5770 or the 6850

Most definitely the GTX 460 1GB, if you can find it for a low price. It's arguably one of the best graphics cards for your money.

$90 sounds a little cheapish for a GTX460. That's even cheap for a GTX460 SE or GTS450. If it's a full blown GTX460 with 336 CUDA cores, I'd jump on it. They are overclocking monsters.

GTX470 or 460 are the best id say for right now and if you play at 1920 x 1200+ then a GTX570 is best

a 6870 is up near the 470 and 460 as well but the 470s can be had for $220 if you look around

jump on that 460 bro! that is the best deal. a 6950 or something would be an alternative BUT at the price of $90 that is the sickest deal around

Which version/ mfgr of the GTX 460? Retail unopened box @ $90. Unheard of...get out of here. Buy 4 for SLI or at least 3 (Tri SLI )... can't go wrong !!!!

Looked around and also at Frys.com you get a $40 rebate ends 1/30/2011 .... I believe there was a In-Store discount/rebate of $20 before Xmas. Currently $159 - $40 rebate = $119.
TigerDirect basically offering same ... not sure if they carry a Second Rebate but guess both places same price tag. it's a 768MB card. Good for $90 ... but PASS on $120.

It surely is, cause the SE editions (which are slower) only come in with 1 gb (he specifically said its a 768 one) So i gotta agree, its a sick price for a 460.
