Battlefield 3 Unveiling at GDC 2011

Electronic Arts promises new game announcements.

Electronic Arts will unveil Battlefield 3 this March.

The publisher confirmed to the media it will host an unveil event for the game on Mar. 1, 2011, taking place during the week of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Additionally, EA says it will also have new game announcements as well as hands-on time with many upcoming titles, including: Shadows of the Damned, Alice Madness Returns, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, and Crysis 2.

Those who purchased the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor this past fall received an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta. Details about the beta's release date have not been announced.

Battlefield 3 is expected to ship in 2011.

Hopefully they ditch Punkbuster and go with the Steam cheating prevention. I doubt it though, they are probably using the save engine as BC2.

They're using Frostbite 2.0 this time around, as opposed to the FB 1.5 BC2 is based on. Hopefully they'll revise some issues in 1.5 and make BF3 much more enjoyable.

BTW, for all of you XP users out there, DICE has said they will drop XP support with BF3.

I hope BF3 is something that will finally push PCs back where they need to be: the bleeding edge of the gaming industry. I don't care about having to support consoles, if you really want to show the world what you can do, develop a PC version separate. Otherwise, we'll be stuck with 5+ year old shit because of the console crowd devs cater to.

First of all that was kinda tongue-in-cheek though had you been following this (or played a Battlefield game before Bad Company) then you would know that we PC gamers are already nervous as hell that another potentially great game and one of the best FPS franchises ever will be ruined by the watered-down console masses and almighty dollar. And if the PC article is word for word same then you had even less good reason to post the Xbox one. No it's not a huge deal but my points are valid. This isn't XboxPowerUp.

I have been playing Battlefield since the 1942 wake island demo over 8 years ago. the PC doesn't need to be defended. I posted it because it was the link it sent me to. god forbid the same article is posted in the XBOX 360 section we don't want to disrupt the space time continuum.

True. It'll be primarily based on A Dx11 Engine (FrostBite 2.0). Check it out here.

I doubt it. I have Win 7 x64, and therefore run DX11, but my video card is an 8800GT that pre-dates the existance of DX11. DX11 must have fall-back rendering schemes for older cards?

it probably will since DX9 isnt just an windows XP thing lol DX11 has support for a DX9 render path built in so by extention this new BF3 will still support ancient DX9 otherwise how could it run on console :roll:
