GTX 570 would be my choice. It beats out the 6970 in most games according to reviews.

You should overclock that CPU more...

1920 x1080, how far should I oc cpu ?

If you have to ask that question I don't recommend you OC until you better educate yourself on the subject. Go with the 6970 for long term.

60C is fine for stress testing, push that CPU to 80C while stress testing and you are fine in any other real world situation really.

Differences in FPS between the cards are minimal. Get what is cheaper.

Metro2033 is probably one of the most memory intense games out there, so much to the fact that W1z has lowered the settings on the 2560x1600 benchmark to stop the sub-3FPS results on every card tested. And even still the GTX570 w/ less ram outperforms the HD6970. I'd say 1.25GB of RAM will be enough through the lifetime of these cards.

The difference in F1 is not a memory issue, it is just an issue of the AMD cards performing better overall in the game than nVidia. That is why you see similar results at 1024x768 w/ no AA. If it was an issue of the cards running out of memory we'd see results like this:

Yup it sure does outperform a 6870......Just not a 6970

I meant HD6970, you can look at the graph and see what I meant, it outperforms the HD6970. It is even fucking highlighted in green for you...so don't be such a troll about a typo.

OMFG. 1-2%. This argument is already ridiculous. Get what is cheaper.

As a matter of fact, TPU normally doesn't allow threads like this. Whoever wants to make a decision on one of these cards needs to look at reviews, features and price and come up with an answer. Otherwise people are going to argue x beats x by 1% and in reality it really doesn't come into the equation.

@ piotrekhc. Look at reviews, prices and come to your own decision on what GPU to buy. No one can give you a definitive answer on where you should spend your money. Your CPU is fine.

No offense, but its more than that across a lot of the games at his resolution. Read your own reviews and grab a calculator. ;)

They are also priced quite similarly at $350...($350 GTX 570 and $360 for 6970) so this does probably need a more micro type view with the games he plays which is why I asked. ;)

Good point. I'm merely trying to stop the bickering while this information doesn't exist yet.

I completely agree, the difference is so small it doesn't matter what you get. Just go with what is cheaper/has a better warranty.

Not really, according to W1z review at his resolution the difference is 2%. So he should go with what is cheaper. Even if the games he plays favor one card over the other, the difference between the two won't be noticeable.

No, not really. At 3.4ghz, if there is a bottleneck it will not be anything noticable with either card.

Is that all you need to know?

If you plan to keep your current cpu, and at its current clocks, then any of those cards will give you the same result. Just choose the cheaper one.
