I'm trying to upgrade my 'puter like the cheap bastard I am :)

Anywho I'm thinking about this mobo and this memory.

I'm trying to keep it under $150ish.

I would also like to have SLI support, but moneys and keeping my old junk is a bit more important.

EDIT: Just read the memory's limit to 100 per customer.

Total $184, You could sell of some of your current hardware to offset the extra cost.

I was trying not to sell my old stuff because I want to try to build a really crappy cheap email/facebook/document machine (mostly to get everybody off of mine :)).

Why not save for AM3/DDR3 ? Hold off a bit and watch Am3 prices drop, once Am3+ is out.

Probably a good idea.

Time to resurrect it from the dead...

So I've pretty much settled on the open box M4N98TD. I'm probably going to have to get the Broadcom drivers for Linux beforehand, though.

And for the memory, I can't decide between OC-Z Platinum ($50; 7-7-7-20@1.65v) or Crucial Ballistix($40; 7-7-7-24@1.65v), the only major difference being the cost and timings. Will the OC-Z make a difference over the crucial that's worth the extra $10? I'm mostly going to use it for gaming and programming.

And does anybody have anything solid about when AM3+ is coming out? Like quarter 2 or something, at least? I hate not knowing how long to wait.

OK, so there aren't any opened boxes anymore. I started looking around and I found a few MSI boards: an 870A and a G55 with an nForce 750a NB, but I have absolutely no experience with MSI and I don't know whether they're good or not.

I can get an unopened ASUS M4N98TD if MSI is absolutely horrible, but I'd prefer to not spend that much.
