For me nearly everything using Keyboard and mouse, but for Flying helicopters has to be with a gamepad or nearly impossible for me.

Do it Do it!!

Question for everyone:
What do you prefer playing GTA with, pad or keyboard and mouse?
It's one of those VERY few games I prefer with a pad.

Both!

GTA III and VC allowed input from both kb/mouse and pad at the same time, so I just had to pick up the pad when needed. But with SA I had to constantly switch in options between the two depending on the situation (driving, flying, shooting). Don't know if it was my hardware or if it was how the game was designed. Did it so many times I was able to switch with my eyes closed.

GTA IV does the same thing what is fantastic, and as said above use it when needed, But strangly i managed fine on SA and VC for copters and planes.

I use the Xbox 360 gamepad. But then again, I use it for all my PC games and no I don't play multiplayer on my games so for singleplayer, it works great. Can't beat relaxing on the couch with a 56" HDTV for PC gaming at 1080p!

I can't play without a controller. Grand Theft Auto was designed with lock on targeting in mind. taking cover while manually aiming with a mouse is slow and sometimes leads me to death. flying with a keyboard is terrible.

Then again, that mission on Zero's shop, where you have to shoot down all those model planes, thats downright impossible with a pad. Same goes for the motorcycle pursuit with Big Smoke, man how many times I tried befoere I finally accomplished that mission... God almighty. Then again some missions are a breeze with a pad, while with kb/m it would be hell.

A couple months back I replayed GTA:SA and had Fraps cap a screenie every 30 seconds. Weeded out most of the save screens, redundant shots and such. Must not have it on for the end though, as the end mission is missing. Anyhoo... if you don't have the time to replay the longest GTA of them all (at least for me), grab a forty, spark a blunt, and let the nostalgia sink in:

I ran into a couple problems with "Supply Lines" but it wasn't impossible.

"Wrong Side of the Tracks" was impossible. I completed it without using cheats a couple times.

look how easy it is with a controller

Big Smoke shoots them all before you even get to the tunnel.

any flying mission is much easier with analog sticks like "Demolition Man" in Vice City where you have to fly the RC Chopper to pick up the sticks of dynamite.

Wrong Side of the Tracks is one of them breeze missions with a pad indeed.

Demolition man well once you get the hang of it its pretty easy with kb/m, too. At least it was for me. Just start at the top story, makes the whole mission easier from the beginning.

Don't forget the Italian American (Tommy Vercetti) from Vice City and the regular white guy from GTA III. I would love to see GTA: Tokyo
