Another max GPU for this power thread.

A friend of mine has this thermaltake PSU and he wants to up-grade his video card. I told him that a HD5770 would be fine but does anyone think he could go to say a GTX460SE?

He's running an AMD 9850, 4G ram, 1 HD and a DVD player. The PSU is only about 1 year old.

The PSU is fine and could run a radeon 6870 as long it has the connectors for it but you may encounter throttling with that prosessor

I think it would power a 460SE but i wouldn't overclock too much or at all. 29 amps on the 12v is enough at stock settings I believe.

those are seriously shitty power supplies. i wouldnt go over a 6850 aka 100w power draw off a gpu, even that would have me iffy on if the PSU can actually do the job

those tt are an ancient design and would not be safe over a 5770.

i am on a GTX470 with a 450w SFX PSU but it also has a 36A 12V rail its not that the its a low watt PSU it is that the PSU is crap
