Who thinks its worthwhile getting a GTX 480 at this moment in time, with the likes of the 69** series and the GTX 560/570 being slightly on either side of the GTX 480 performance wise.

The thing is, I can get a GTX 480 for £200 and the GTX 570 is around £260 for the same performance though slightly better power consumption.

I also compared the 6850 crossfire performance and it is 2% higher than the GTX 480 though again costs £260 for 2...

So is the GTX 480 at £200 worth it at that price, cause I don't think anything in the £200 price point can touch it performance wise even with the new gens out.

so that's what 324$ u.s.? i paid just under 300$ for each of my 480's and at that price I find them worth it. Plus i don't care about heat or power so i saw no benefit in paying 50$ more for the 570.

in this case it seems worth it to me but i still like to see 190 pounds or less.

We have 20% VAT I don't know if your $324 included taxes but £200 is the cheapest I have seen these go for, and before the GTX 580/570 you where looking at well over £300

are you talking about a brand new 480? Coz you can pick up used 480s for $300 or less pretty easy.

NO, gtx 480 no worth it right now.
You have these options before getting a gtx 480
In order:
-GTX580
-GTX570
-GTX560 SLI
-GTX460 SLI
any of these beats GTX 480 in everything.

and probably cost more, except for GTX460 SLi, I'd go two new 1gb cards for probably 300 pounds or less, considering their prices in Euro (high tax too I think)

they beat a GTX480 quite soundly stock vs stock and oc vs oc so you cant go wrong IMO, overclocked in SLi you would be looking at around double the performance of a single stock GTX470 like the specs say you have.

ok but is worth the price, the gtx at the beginning was 499 in usa, so paying right now 350 for a gtx 570 that has the same +- performance/less power consumption/ less heat/ and NICE temps
o yeah i keep my opinion.
i really dont like gtx480 or gtx 470-
instead gtx 460 is awesome
some people had to increase the gtx480 and 470 gpu fan rpm to cool em down.
and the gtx500 generation its just great on that matter.

Nvidia pay his new labs with the mass sell of the gtx480 and gtx 470.Then they bring out the cake gtx 460:p

the 460 is crap...its not that great of a card for the price...i put it with a 7600GT IMO it clocked good and stuff but it will never be a 7800GT or GTX thats the same thing here the 460 clocks good and all but its no 470 or 480.

the 570 is not worth $50 its not getting that much better anything. i would much rather chunk $50 into a cooler on a 480 and clocking it up.

here hwbot agrees

no a 10 chip 465 is the diamond. i rather like my 470 as well i have yet to see a 460 that can touch it. even with a bigger cooler on them the 470 clocking on a stocker still beats them

GTX470 cuts all your gaming needs dude.

No point upgrading. Wait this generation out. 28nm wait should be worth it.

your call dude.
I keep my state, most of the people buy a card and dont expect to buy an aftermarket cooler.
When someone is gonna pay from 300 to 500 bucks dont wanna think on paying 100 more for an aftermarket cooler.

everyone turns there fans up on your GPU to keep them running cool no matter the card. Why dont you like GTX480 or 470?? just because they are hot and loud?? they are ran off the fastest GPU ever made.

everyone turns there fans up on your GPU to keep them running cool no matter the card. Why dont you like GTX480 or 470?? just because they are hot and loud?? they are ran off the fastest GPU ever made.

youre right hot, loud, power hunger. Personally i dont likem cuz all that. I care about why i pay and mostly if is expensive. I wanna buy a card that dont keep worried all the time while im playing. Thats why i still recognizing AMD.they cards are fast, cheap, coolest, quiet, and no need to worry about-despiting CCC- and what comes to the thread is worth right now?
