Whats the point in making games if people can pirate them ?. But what is a shame that they don't do a such thing under another OS but maybe that's not possible and goes against some other rules.

Funny part of that update they said it was for the controllers connected ( the auto off function lol )..

maybe the update of the new security patch will patch the holes that other os had..and allow other os to return in time.

And the auto-off function pissed me off - glad I can set a time now!

Sony doesn't really make any money off making games, yes they put out a few crappy low end games, but nothing big name. They make money off the hardware and licencing fees.

I thought Sony owned a few studios that create their big exclusives like Polyphony (GT5), Santa Monica (GoW), and Guerilla (Killzone) to name a few.

edit: they also own naughty dog who makes the uncharted series. no wonder sony is looking into making this game into a movie. duh.

Interesting.

It's too early to call this the nail in the coffin for PS3 homebrew IMO. We'll have to wait and see what the wise coder cats, the ones who know how to stay on the cuff, have to say about all this.

yea it seems they make the best games for the ps3. it says a lot about how other developers do not want to touch coding for the ps3 and if they do the game is usually lame. microsoft does the same thing with its "exclusives."

Very true. The people who make the hardware probably know how to use it best though.

The one thing that surprised me with this update is that everyone was saying it would be impossible to fix the current exploit (cats out the bag, it will make all old games unplayable, they're moving to serial keys, etc), but here it is and the way they bypassed the security is useless now. Props to them.

Didn't the PS3 sell for a loss for the longest time and only make a marginable profit now? Most of their profit are games and licencing fees

just goes to show you that tech forum know-it-alls (not just tpu) don't in-fact know it all. gee, you think Sony, one of the world's largest and most powerful corporations that employs some of the brightest technological minds on the planet can't get around some fame-hungry hacker? lol!

makes sure that any hacker or anything like that can't benefit from small things like that... Then again it sucks for me... I'm stubborn about keeping other OS so I can't netflix :shadedshu I have the 3.55 CFW with OtherOS hack though as I need it to play more recent games like Fight Night Champion while keeping Linux. I don't really use Linux that much but I do it by principle of having it becomes I paid for it and was a major deciding factor between X360 and PS3

Yes, it sold for a loss at first, and they made their money on licencing fees. I don't think they've released a profittable game though... :laugh:

Their game studio is kind of rubbish.
