Hi I'm gonna have a

MSI 870-G45 Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor
OCZ Gold 4gb DDR3-1333Mhz RAM
Seagate Barricude 500 gb SATA2 7200RPM Harddrive
PowerColor HD 4830 512 mb
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Cooler
Asus PCE-N13 Network Card

Will my OCZ 500 Watt ModXStream Pro PSU be enough?
How about a Antec Truepower New 650W Modular PSU

Also, the 512 mb PowerColor HD 4830 should I get 1gb, or is 512 mb enough for 1280 x 1024 res or even 1600x900 res?

I know about the PSU calculators but I think those are like the recommended or minimum constant wattage output, where as the 500W and 650W PSU's are max outputs. All help is appreciated. THANKS!

both psu's should power the system providing the gfx does not use more then 250w (cannot see at moment as posting from psp)

512mb is enough for 1280*1024 but you may need more for 1600*900

really you should pick a 5 series gpu as a 5770 should out perform 4830 at a simeler price whilst having 1gb and dx11

Yah i've been looking for a while but this is pushing my budget, I'm looking for something around the $70 range for gpu. My 4830 i'm getting is $69.80. ALSO what is max TDP for a processor? Cause the Athlon 2 X4 640 has 95 W thermal design power. Will this effect compatibility or anything?

Max TDP = energy usage and also correlates to the maximum amount of heat at stock generated by the processor.

As for the GPU, you can find people selling better used GPUs here or on overclock.net for around that price

so would my cooler master/motherboard/PSU be able to handle that 95W? and the things is I live in canada but I can check around I suppose, is there a link to a TPU marketplace?

I'd guess that setup to consume a max of around 200 watts (85w GPU, 115w rest), and that's under a synthetic 100% CPU and GPU load. It would probably spend most of its time consuming <100w. Even if you wanted to, I doubt you could find a $70 video card that would make your PSU a problem in that setup.

You'll be just fine.

For future upgrading would it depend one which PSU i get? Also, I've been looking around for a while, this is my first build and I'm just scared of installation mostly, are there any how to guides. Mainly for the location of wires? I think I understand PSU to motherboard, GPU, and SATA that's about it tho. What are peripheral connectors?

A book that helped me a lot when I was newer to computers was Upgrading and Repairing PCs. It's a good general-purpose guide and reference for computer hardware. There are many editions available and the link above is to pre-order the 20th edition. If you're in a hurry you could search for a previous edition.

It would have helped me out if someone had told me this when I was newer to computers, so let me pass it on: many otherwise knowledgeable computer hardware hobbyists and professionals, overestimate the amount of power their computers consume. Online PSU calculators often do the same. Also be aware that many online product reviews show the power consumption of the whole system, not just the device being reviewed. You don't want to ever have an inadequate PSU, but for efficiency's sake, you don't want to go overboard too much either usually. When it doubt, it never hurts to ask the many good folks here at TPU as you have done. :)

With all that being said, do you think the 500W will have ample wattage?

OCZ is a good power supply company and their 500w would have more than enough since it can actually provide about 500watts.
