they are all the same just a different stick stamped on the shroud. I would get the Sapphire though. I might be getting one as well

Gigabyte is said to be the best, the XFX has great cooling and lifetime limited warranty, sapphire is good but said to be alright cooling, MSI is good too. hmmm.

how can they have better cooling when they are all the same reference cards?? Different fan profiles?? well you can change that to your liking anyways.

No current Newegg codes for 6950s as of now AFAIK. Choose your card based on warranty and price (depending on how much a warranty matters to you). Keep in mind that all but the Gigabyte also come with a $10 Newegg Gift Card after purchase, and they all have MIRs. My personal choice would be the XFX for the double lifetime warranty after registration.

Check warranty periods also, my MSI came with 36 months. My experience so far, good clockers can reach 900/1325 without changing voltages on both cards and can do 1ghz with 1.3mv.

The MSI is cheapest after rebate, but I would spend a little extra money on the XFX. They also let you swap coolers without fear of voiding your warranty. Don't get rid of the stock one, though as you'll need it for RMA. They seem to be the most friendly to the overclocking community.

hmmmm. actually, i'm only 1680*1050. maybe should go with another XFX card. 2gb might be overkill for just playing Flight Simulator X

I got that Sapphire Model and I Luv it...It unlocked for me...
11.4 driver Fu*King Rock....not sure what they did since 11.2 but 11.4 really makes these cards worth it...seems like it anyways

I'm sure it will be, but it would definitely be a future-proof upgrade. The rest of your system seems decent. Your call on whether or not stepping up in resolution would be worth getting a slower card.

Sapphire and XFX are the best manufactures.

Whichever is cheaper of the two. :)

i don't think i'll be stepping up my resolution. could you suggest either

XFX HD-587X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5870 1GB 256-bit DDR5 P...

XFX HD695XZDDC Radeon HD 6950 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PC...

XFX HD-695A-CNFC Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 ...

last one is the original XFX 2GB. It doesn't have double lifetime though, just says LIFETIME

I believe all those cards will have the double lifetime warranty.

Check out W1zz's reviews of the 6950 1GB and 2GB cards, specifically the Performance Summary page, 1680x1050 graph. This will directly compare those three cards, and give you an idea of their relative performance. Then, decide which is the best value to you!

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ ;)

Edit: Don't think there are any 6950 1GB reviews, but you can at least look at 6950 2GB vs 5870. Unlocked 6950 2GB will perform at or just under 6970 speeds, depending on whether you do a shader unlock only, or a full flash.

They don't pick some cards to be double lifetime, and some not to be. I believe all of their current cards carry double lifetime.

XFX is the furthest from the best "VENDOR". There non-reference cards are shit. Crappy PCB, Circuitry and they cheap out on VRMs. Id go Sapphire or Asus for reference cards. Who needs life time warrenty when you arent even going to have the card for a life time. the card will be forgotten about after 3 years
