not sure but just been reminded by a youtube comment that AMD's 16 core processor is coming out around lga 2011 time - not looking good for intel - 8 core bulldozer will beat sandy bridge, interlagos (16 core) will come out at the same time as ivy bridge which should mean AMD will win there as well

so overall, looking good for AMD

Also it probably should of gone in general hardware, as hardware is for comp parts and software is or comp programs

Yea that is true, it is looking good then for AMD, only time will tell i guess. I was just shocked at the score on that graph lol

I moved it right after he posted "Can a mod move it for me?"
I guess no one scrolled to the top to see where it's new home was, or noticed on the main forum page that it was showing up in GH's latest thread.

Oh well .. here you go --> I moved the thread guys !! lol

Back to discussing Bulldozer. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the benches on these.
It will be interesting to see how their 16 core (interlagos) compares to something like a pair of quad Xeon's with HT (16 virtual cores)

I get no respect. :(

I'm not sure W1zz will do it, but it is almost certain there will a TPU review of both the 8 and 16 core flavors when available.

what we need is more reviewers so we can review more techs, we do well on gfx cards but ram and cpu etc seem to leave much to be desired

you need to have a note in your sig or something cause otherwise people just think you just have an abnormally high knowledge of tpu

I won't personally be happy until we have 40 cores @ 10ghz, and by that point there'll be nothing that will use them as all of the games will have been consolized to the point where they can run on a nintendo 4dsiiixxxxl+7 or whatever there consoles will be called in 10 years time

It's gets somewhat difficult as quite a bit of support hardware is needed. For instance, to run the comparison I noted, you would need a system that supports the new Bulldozers and also a system that support a pair of xeons .. and that only if you are comparing the two of them.

The fact that my name is in bright blue as opposed to the normal member color is not enough? Okay, I'll change my title so people know.

You may be right, but multi-player minesweeper will be pure awesomesauce.

i see your point but if its that difficult then why can other sites do it?

yeah sorry i didn't notice the color as its not all that noticeable if your not looking for it, maybe have your name in red or something, also if its a choice can i have my name in orange, i like your new title though

i cannot agree more, but wouldn't it end up either with just a scoreboard or in a sort of battleship like method where one player has to place mines to stop another player

I'm not saying we (TPU) can't do it. As I said it will almost certainly be done as it's a very hot topic in the tech world. I was just pointing out some of the difficulties. I am sure one of the reviews will be up for the task.

You also have to remember that there is a great deal of work (very time consuming) involved in producing a top knotch review. Many reviews also have real lives (full time job, family, etc.) which they must juggle.

I have a 24'x20' woodworking shop that I am thinking of converting entirely to do computer hardware repair and testing, so maybe in the future you will see my name on some of the reviews.

As far as name colors go ... red is admins only, green is supermods, bright blue is mods/staff.

Benchmark Scores later...
Benchmarks leaks...
Each CPU packed 16 processing cores and a clock speed of 1.8 GHz.

The testing was supposedly submitted by an independent AMD server partner, listing the new 16-core Interlagos Opteron chip as "AMD Eng Sample ZS182045TGG43_28." This particular processor has been benchmarked before with SuSE Linux 11, Ubuntu 10.04, CentOS 5.4 and Arch Linux, but not in a dual-CPU setup as seen here.

Only a few select benchmarks from the suite were actually performed in this particular testing including C-Ray, Himeno, SciMark 2, Parallel BZIP2 Compression and the Stream memory tests. For starters, the system scored a C-Ray time of 25 seconds, showing to be quite faster than the Intel Core i5 2500K (quad-core + Hyper Threading; 3.3 GHz + 3.7 GHz Intel Turbo Boost) at 61 seconds or the Intel Core i7 970 (six cores + Hyper Threading; 3.2 GHz Base Frequency + 3.46 GHz Turbo Boost) at about 61 seconds.

Hmm, the original video was from semiaccurate.com, which has the equivalent "truthiness" of Herr Glenn Beck and Colonel Gaddafi.

Also, the comparo that the good Mr. Goodman posted compares 2x16 core chips (that's 32 cores!) and 64GB DDR3 with single chip setups and unknown quantities of RAM and different software setups.

Interesting, but rubbish.

So, to your question of "is this real", I can tell you with 100% accuracy, that this did not come from AMD.

That first benchmark slide is not real. Not sure what it is, but it is not from us. All of the architecture slides are either mine, or from hot chips (from engineering). Those are real. The wafer shot from S|A is *probably* real, but I can't be 100% sure.

I am really annoyed that someone put this together and used an (old) AMD slide at the end to make it look like we had done this. Why, people? Why?
