So whose side are you on? Seeing as Nvidia is getting heavily defamed for the 8800GTX This may be a tight battle. ATI4EVA or NVIDIA4LIVE?

The G80 series is as famous as it is infamous. Sure it's gigantic, sure it's a power hog, sure it runs hot, sure there are almost no aftermarket coolers that fit, sure it's a bit buggy, and sure there's no driver support for anything other than Windows XP x86. The performance speaks for itself, really. If you have a rig 1337 enough for the G80, it's worth every penny. And it's DX10 too :).

Now, as to AMD versus NVIDIA. AMD is more realistic, NVIDIA is known for being ahead of schedule with buggy stuff with high performance. That's all there is really.

In Q1 2006 you would have been saying the same about ATI

And as long as this remains a true debate, and there are no personal insults/flaming, the argument can go on as long as it wants to.

Why? The X1k series was released efficiently, there was plenty of stock, and no worries about driver support. ATI cards have been hot, hungry, and huge since the Xx00 series though :p.

ATI and NVIDIA have been having huge powerstruggles, Nvidia was quick to realease the 8800 series in an attempt to seal the DX10 market. However, unfortuneately next generation GPUs are supposed to outperform previous generation GPUs completely, of which it did not do. 8800 has a huge die which any manufacturer could do, while ignoring the costs. Therefore making the 8800 look rushed.

R600 has too many rumors of benchmarks, of which most are false. ATI should tell consumers if there are any samples being sent around. AMD is trying to be innovative allowing custom PCB designs, many people feel unsure about this; Imagine Powercolor making a PCB shaped like one of their "Box Cover" Girls!!! I have to say, the R600 article in Wikipedia is probably bogus.

OFF TOPIC: Amd should consider using an aluminium/fibreglass bezel to reinforce the edges of the upcoming R600! If those specs are true, it is going to be one helluva heavy card.

7600GS; I would rather get two 7600GT Tbh, 7600GS Can't even match the performance of an X1800XL Even in SLI.

NOTE: Tom's hardware is sort of biased in terms of benchmarks sometimes, so please don't use tom's hardware as a referal in this thread.

Option added to the poll to those who aren't fanboys/ignorant, or don't care about brand. Seen too many of these polls and they always turn out the same.

Ohh, if you want it gone, just tell me tkpenalty. I just thought it was a "missing" option. :)

I prefer ATI myself.

I've had issues with the 2 nvidia cards I owned before making the switch to ATI. ATI just seems to have better drivers than the nvidia cards had.

I prefer ATI; The few Nvidia cards's I've purchased, failed, broke or something went wrong. I have had problems with both companys drivers, ATI's drivers stick like glue, and sometimes don't work together with other ATI drivers(CCC with Avivo, for example). Nvidia drivers don't seam to work as well as ATI"s.

X850XT is still one of the most powerful cards!!! Although its a generation old!
