Get it while you can. My copy is dling now. Darn good FPSRPG game, can call it an MO but not an MMO as there is no big server to play on. Best value on Steam in a long time. Up there with BFBC2 for about $5.50 last Christmas.

I wouldn't say best value on steam for a long time, but yeah, pretty good deal.

What would you say is the best value on steam for a long time then? Damn, that is a lot of gameplay for $7.50.

Go go discrimination :(
For us in Europe, Borderlands GotY is 12.50 € (~18$)

But yeah, Borderlands is a pretty fun game, so at $7.5 it's almost a steal :)

Thanks for the heads up! Just grabbed it. I was curious about it, but wanted to wait for a big sale before I bought it.

Thankfully (for me) Israel is considered by Steam to not be in Europe. Well sorta. We get EU release dates, but US prices. Go figure.

Personally, when The Orange Box was $9.99, and which you already mentioned, BFBC2 for $5.

These games are online, though. Borderlands is more of a single player experience from what I remember, it was difficult to find people to play with.

That's what this thread is for, to make the folks aware of this awesome deal. Fortunately it is PvE only like L4D series, so you people can't frustrate me with your inability to kill the other team like in BFBC2, only bots. You can duel each other however.

It's the whole Judeo-Christian ethics, Western culture connection thing. Gets you people a break on the games also. ;)

I have to say this is up there with Orange Box and BFBC2. So yes, this is the best value on Steam in a long time since those deals haven't been on in a while. I bought HL2 on a Steam sale. It is hard to play SP FPS games like that these days. Isn't the same intensity level as BFBC2 to say the least.

Borderlands is an online game in a party of 4 that can also be soloed throughout. Servers were few when I played last but that should change per this sale.

Best value on Steam was Mass Effect for 4.99$ prior to the release of ME2 (I bought four of my friends a copy as a gift, and they pre-ordered ME2 nearly immediately. Bioware owes me royalties!).

For the life of me, I can't understand why everyone is raving about BFBC2 and the Orange Box. I have both, and I logged less than 10 hours on either option (considering the Orange Box has several games, that's saying something). Maybe its because I dislike multiplayer gaming in general and I've always considered the Half-Life series to be terribly overrated.

Just for comparison, I have over 400 hours on the two first Mass Effect games, over 80 hours on Dragon Age and something like 250 hours on NBA2K11...

I don't live and breath Half-Life, but being the massive VALVe fanboy that I am, I love The Orange Box to death.
BFBC2 I can't say the same for. Not a big fan of it, I was more into BF2.

Back on topic though,

There is A LOT of content in Borderlands, fact. This is a good deal.

If that came with all DLC, then I could see that as one of the all time great deals on Steam. Without the DLC, it is one of the better ones. My statement still stands on Borderlands GOTY being the best value in a long time, but only for a few more hours.

BFBC2 is damn fun, that is why everyone is talking about it. As you can tell from my sig, I have logged a few hours in that game myself. I like the Half-Life series but it is hard to play these days per so many great online FPS games out there like BFBC2. Half Life 2 isn't MP unless you purchase Half Life 2: Deathmatch which is a good game. Orange Box is interesting.

I personally think online gaming is where it's at. Obviously not every one can share my enthusiasm. I enjoy offline games like Oblivion and Just Cause 2 but games like BFBC2 jack me through the roof.

I don't live and breath Half-Life, but being the massive VALVe fanboy that I am, I love The Orange Box to death.

I would say you like Orange Box quite a bit, wouldn't mind having picked it up during that sale myself.

BFBC2 isn't easy to pick and win at. Pick up and play yes, but not get good at.

There is a lot of content in Borderlands GOTY which comes with base Borderlands and all 4 DLC content addons and they add a lot of further gameplay. Don't believe you can reach the max level cap without the DLC like in WoW. Borderlands itself is $5 but that isn't close to the same deal as GOTY.

You got all 4 DLC packages too? Don't believe Steam DLC will work with non-Steam Borderlands. It may if you get creative.

Yup got the retail verison of GOTY edition, and i wouldn't have thought steam would let you buy the dlc if you didn't have the game on your account already.

Just ashame you can't register the retail verison on steam, as save having the disk in the drive.

Never tried that so I can't comment.

You can enter non-Steam games into your Steam library, certain titles will work.

Maybe Ill try to get into it now; buddies would help. Finished Witcher, need to get back to Mass Effect 2 and F:NV but just haven't felt like it again yet and really just been playing BC2 with what little gaming time I have. There are many others in my Library too of course but nothing I feel I absolutely should play/finish esp before all the great new games hit later this year (starting with Witcher 2 for me and moving on to Skyrim and BF3 but there are definitely others on the horizon as well).

Sale is over now, Civilization V is up for sale today with DLC.

I've been playing BFBC2 nonstop. My XFire hour counter was up to 100 hours in a weeks span for BFBC2. Borderlands looks fun and worth playing. Long list of games on Steam I want to get to, in addition to all my other games collection. Steam games I want to polish off include Oblivion, Just Cause 2, Borderlands GOTY, Dead Space, Tomb Raider Trilogy, Lara Croft and GoL, GTA IV Complete Pack, The Witcher, AvP, and ofc I want to keep plating weaps in BFBC2. Playing games all day everyday helps. :D

What would you say is the best value on steam for a long time then? Damn, that is a lot of gameplay for $7.50.

A damn lot of sub par overhyped gameplay.. nice find tho. If I hadnt already played the game and known how disappointing it was then id be all over this.

Framerate dropping is the only problem I have in this game. Gets slow soloing, meant to be played in groups. If you don't mind soloing when you can't find a group about your level, you will have fun with this PvE MOFPSRPG. Notice I typed MO not MMO. Perhaps Borderlands 2 will be MMO.
