XP and 2 optic drive detection problem.

I just did a fresh install of Windoes XP on my old rig. Everything seted up as usual and drivers installed ServicePack3 also. DVD reader master and CD-RW slave but dont know why the slave is detected in the bios without troubel i can even boot the installation cd with it but in Windows XP menu only the DVD reader is there.

What could be the problem on that one? Thx

Unplug -> boot XP then Plug back -> boot XP ?

make sure the cable is ok
or you can try switch the jumper into cable select position then try turn it on again

Gonna unplug the master to see if it detect the slave but i unplugged nothing its the same setup as before formating. BRB for a test.

if theres nutting change the err could be from power or the cables

I unplugged the master dvd and let the slave cr-rw plugged then xp detected it . shut down and plug back dvd then in xp they are swapped the CD is D: and the DVD is E: Never made this before!

Problem solved! Switched the primary and secondary ide cables rebooted. Closed then switched back and now everything is fine. Seems to me that the XP installation lacked something but pretty unusual.
