Ok, I'll jump in - finally!

I reckon my GTX 580 will be able to push out a useful amount of work.

First, I have a couple of setup questions though.

1 Your chimp challenge thread has a link for Fahtracker V2. This seems to be different from the client available at http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

Which should I use? If I should use Fahtracker, is there now a later version available, perhaps?

2 I've still got my old GTX 285. My mobo is crossfire capable and therefore has two graphics card slots in it.

I have a strong PSU, so I'm wondering if it's possible to run both cards at once for F@H?

And for those that are wondering no, I'm not trying to daftly run two dissimilar nvidia cards in 'crossfire' or SLI.

If some one could tell me a quick and EASY way to get my ubuntu 10.4 machine folding with its 9600 gt. I would certainly love to get it folding for you.

2xGTX580s SLI reporting for duty.

P.S. in EVGA precision one GPU is locked at 99% while the 2nd one keeps jumping between 20~90% Is this normal?

P.P.S. Will try and get my 2xGTX285s and Q9550 online in the next few hours, been having problems with my wireless connection to my room and may need to get my HTPC out of the room. :toast:

P.P.P.S. GPU0 was reaching 89 degrees, pumped my GPU fans to 85% and both are cruising at 55~60 degrees now :rockout:

P.P.P.P.S. OK now both GPUs showing 99% usage... that's weird :confused:

Got a question, hope you guys can help me:

On my 2600K, if I enable the CPU folding and SMP, my PC shows all 8 logical processors at 99% use and both my GPUs hover at around 99% use as well, my system is responsive and I can open my web browser and do start other process normally.

On my Q9550 on the other hand, when I enable my CPU the system becomes very unresponsive, all 4 cores show 99% use but my GPUs hover at only 25~30% use. Is this normal? and if not, what am I doing wrong on my other PC?

I use Win7 64bits on both PCs, and both also use the latest WHQL Nvidia drivers, how can I fix this?

I would suggest getting an affinity program like Pro Lasso that balances out the load on both CPU and GPU.

Sorry for being clear as mud. There are 2 "clients" available for Nvidia GPU's, known as GPU2 and GPU3, not to be confused with GPU 0, GPU 1, etc.

Would you please post a screen shot of the system with the GTX285's.

Not at all, thanks for your help mate, here's the screenie:

It was taken with CPU folding disabled, as my system gets really slow if I enable it. I remember my old Q9550 being slower than my current 2600K, but I think this is not normal, it's like the system just hangs and my proc. is locked folding, creating a bottleneck for my GPUs :confused:
