Computer beeps once, monitor not working

The monitor light is blinking green and sometimes yellow. I've checked all the cords, and the computer beeps once then goes through all the normal fan noises and everything, like it's booting up and the monitor is refusing to go along. I've tried unplugging the computer from the wall, turning off and on the power supply, making sure the gpu is in tight, nothing is happening.

Which model monitor? Is this a new build you just put together or did you just start having this issue? I'm assuming this is the PC in (very minimal) PC specs.

1. Try re-setting the monitor.
2. Try a different monitor.

I can't turn the monitor off. The power button doesn't respond. It's just a blank screen and none of the monitor controls work. Unplugging it isn't going to do anything.

As far as I can tell it's dead and doesn't have the courtesy to just shut off completely.

Do you have multiple video inputs on the monitor?

Get another monitor from someone and make sure thats the problem.

If not its your graphics card or on board graphics depending on what your useing.

95% sure the monitor is toast. Entertain me, try a different vga/dvi cable.

It would be 10 times cheaper to repair it than get a new one, but I've never tried anything like that and paying for service would just cost a ton of money anyway. It's 1680 x 1050 and they don't seem to make that resolution anymore. Aside from that, doing it myself would be a terrible idea. So now I have to look for a new one.

Make sure that there are no buttons/switches stuck, maybe, causing the other buttons/switches to not function.

They should all feel the same when depressed. Might be some stuck, gummed-up, or dirty contacts.

are you sure the PC is not at fault, that beep can be an error code, try and use another monitor or a TV screen before you buy new one...

I don't have any other DVI monitors. And I already said: One beep to confirm everything is properly connected, same beep it has been making since the first time it ever started, it makes all the fan speed increase and decreases, it sounds exactly like Windows is starting up and the monitor is simply refusing to display it.

i had the same issue with a Fujitsu machine, got RMA'ed came back with a new mobo was fine, apparantly the AGP port was screwed

It happens to me when ram is not installed proper. Connect the monitor to the supply and unplug the Video cable from the comp. The monitor should say no signal. If not it's kaput.

Had my monitor go on me a few weeks back but mine showed absolutely no signs of life, point towards the power supply.

Cracked it open to find it had shitty CapXon capacitors and one had bulged, leaking electrolyte.

Replaced it and now it goes but I accidentally put the wrong capacitor in.
Put in a 1200 micro farad 16 volt instead of 1000 micro farad 16 volt and now I get patches of dead and half lit pixels at either corner of my screen.

If I turn of the power and drain drain it, some of the pixels work again but still some are still half lit.
Probably due the the capacitor not being exact.

Plus they use really high temp solder so you need to keep the soldering iron of for quite a while before any movement.
