Planning to buy a new KIT

So guys .... im planing to build a PC :

one of my questions is , what will be better for Gaming , Intel or AMD ?

Right now i got a pretty nice offer for this kit :

I7 965 extreme edition + EVGA X58 FTW3 + 12Gigs ocz Gold.

But i can also get the AMD 1100T ...

wich one will be the best ? remember .. for gaming ONLY!

Oh , and also , im getting a 2nd GTX480 , but that will be later on ...

I would wait for Bulldozer atm, since that we are so close to its launch. but if you are getting it asap, then it will be i5 2500K, best bang for buck in gaming there is currently. X58 is just as good, but given the higher power consumption and also older tech (not that it matters), I would go for the Sandy Bridge. AMD is out of contention no matter how you look at it.

What kind of deal are you getting on the i7 965? I would go ahead and take it if it's in great condition and the price is good. I would NOT wait for bulldozer. Sandy bridge is a good upgrade, but if you can get the X58 board and processor much cheaper go for it.

It will be plenty for gaming for a few years, and with dual gtx 480's you'll be set.

Its a little more cheaper than the X58 ... but money is not an issue . all i want is extreme performance and i guess that the i7 965 will be better than sandy bridge , right ?

EDIT : And also , that i7 965 kit is the best we can get here in Cuba ... =)

No, go for the sandy bridge setup if you don't care about the money. If you truly don't care about the money get a 2600k and a Z68 board from gigabyte or asus.

I would go ahead with the specs you just listed. The SB build will handle dual 480's just fine.

I wish we have here Z68 Motherboards ..... all the best we can get is the kit(SD) i putted above ... the Z68 series will not arrive here in a couple of months i guess ( with luck! )

From the LGA 1366/X58 CPUs, only the i7 980X (6-core) surpasses the i7 2600k.

Many on the net. SB has superior memory bandwidth and overclocks like mad, that gives it the head above the rest.

For encoding apps, and such, the 6-core can win, but for gaming, I personally feel that SB cannot be beat right now.

Haven't received any 1366 boards for review, so no reviews on that from me, but many many sites have that compare up.

SB is basically taking the previous 1366 power, moving it over to mainstream, plus adding built-in video. 4.5ghz is like nothing to SB, but getting 1366 that high..well..can be alot of work.

For 3D, because PCIe is integrated into CPU, SB seems to win, especially with multi-card configs.

That's not to say that there's anything wrong with 1366, but that's last-gen stuff, at this point.

Also the deals on I7 (not to mention SB) are brutal-expensive. Phenom II x6 are hell cheaper and should be enough accompanied by a nice Graphics & enough memory. It's your call only.

I've been an intel fanboy all along but their lastest socket spree (1155,1156,1136) has made me somehow sceptic about what should I expect from the in the future, in my opinion It'd be a real pain in the ass if they keep making new sockets like mad.

Well , here we dont have many offers for a GTX580 , very few i have seen ... and yes , i got very nice cooling for the GTX480 , temps dont go higher than 73ºC playing Dirt3 or Witcher 2 ...

73 degrees... It's not too bad but it's not healthy, will go up even higher (maybe 90 degrees) when you SLI because you will have less space in the case for airflows.

Have you thought about GTX570 (if there is more offers than GTX580)? It's around the same as GTX480 but cooler and less power (trade GTX480 for one and get another for SLI? )

If you insist on getting another GTX480 then you may need to reapply thermal paste on all the chips under the card casing.
