Asus P867 Pro temperature 123c!!!?

Hi Guys

Just upgraded & installed my new mobo chip & ram earlier.
After installing windows, updates & programs I left it on to do a defrag for a couple of hours.

When I came back Asus Fan Expert had sent a popup warning saying the motherboard temperature is 123c (253.4f) which cant be right surely?!!!

I popped off the side to have a look and the VRM heatsinks up top are room temp but the heatsink towards the bottom, where a traditional "southbridge" would be, is pretty hot to the touch (though i can leave my finger on it without burning).

Is this a common thing with these boards/Asus Fan Expert and nothing to worry about?
Or do i need to reseat this heatsink on this "southbridge" area of the board?

hmmm... on reboot, its now 33c... so im guessing glitchy software... false alarm, but ill keep an eye on it

Yeah it's the software that's buggy, i sometimes i get crazy voltage warnings and unreal temperature warnings.

yeah i just got a fright as after installing the hardware and operating system i went for a nap... woke up and checked on the pc to find a warning for the momo hitting a massive temp lol.

since then I havent had any issues so im not that worried now

not neccessarily, ive had my old radeon 4870 go up that high (VRM's) brefore it finally broke, no flames though unfortunately

my sabertooth did the same but after i flashed it with the new bios never had an issue

yeah it hasnt done it again (havent updated bios though, seems fine as it is for the moment)
