Hello TPU, I'm back! AND I need help.

I'm from The Philippines. :)
I currently have the Powercolor HD5770. (almost 1 yr old)
I was thinking of buying a GTX 480 because the price dropped. :toast:
but I can't find ANY GTX 480's in ANY stores here in The Philippines.
So I decided to buy GTX460, but on my research 550 Ti is better. :shadedshu: :D

So is it worth it to buy a GTX550Ti? OR do you recommend other cards? 250$ / 9,000Php budget (as much as possible)

OR should I wait for prices to drop again?

Thanks for those who will help. :respect:

Not much of a jump for the cost. I'd wait or consider saving up more.

Hmm.. You're pretty right, because I never played recent games like dirt 3.. because I have no time to buy:p lol. But I think I should save up:) and when I finally have 550$ / 24,000 Php (new card price equivalent) I will buy the latest card:D I just hope it won't bottleneck on my i5 760 and P55GD55 mobo.

Hell no! just look at the reviews in many games is even weaker than you current card get at leat a 6870 it's kind of cheap now.

Are you sure? I tried to compare 550 Ti and 5770 on http://hwcompare.com and 550Ti is like, 20% better:) Yeah I saw 6870, but I'd want to stick to nVidia from now on:) IDK tho, thanks for the reply!

You already have a GTX 460 or not?

I do not have the 460, but I do have 5770:D It was priced 200$ / 8,000 Php when I bought it from a local retailer. (last year, july-september)

but I want to have the 480, I just can't find one here in The Philippines. :banghead:

I am in the same boat debating whether to get a GTX 460 1GB or 6850.

The GTX 460 is cheaper on Newegg, but the most recent reviews of the 6850 compare it to the GTX 460 with older drivers.

Well if you have the money for a GTX480 and you don't find it why not search for a GTX570? Should be just a little more expensive than a 480. Under this price range you'll find the GTX560Ti which is a big jump from your current one.

Wow thanks, I never thought that the 570 would cost only a little higher than the 480. I WILL save up to buy a 570, because I thought that the 480 dropped prices real low, so I have to save money. :D

1.)The GTX550Ti is just a hopped up GTS450 which was only slightly better than the GTS250.
2.)The best bang for the buck is the GTX560Ti.
3.)It would be much better to get the GTX570 than a GTX480.
4.)You are posting on TPU, home of The W1zzard. You might want to look at the reviews here.;) Such as: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GTX_550_Ti_Amp_Edition/23.html

I might get a 560, but I want my PC to be future proof so I might save some money then buy the best card:D (for now the 580)

Get a GTX 570 instead. There's a lot of them here.

You're from the Philippines, too? Thanks! I might buy from the PC Xpress, Inno3d or EVGA?

GTX 570 - 15700-17000php
HD 6970 - 16000-17000php

GTX 560 Ti - 10400-11000php
HD 6950 - 12000-13000php

Thanks!

The GTX 460 is cheaper on Newegg, but the most recent reviews of the 6850 compare it to the GTX 460 with older drivers.

The 460 costs 9,500 Php here (220$) But I DO think that I should save up and buy a much higher end card. Besides I don't really need it now. :) I'm a little busy for college. :D

Don't compare graphics card performance by how fat their mem bandwidth are.
I was talking about gaming performance here see for youself http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_6850_SCS3_Passive/12.html
look at 5770 then look at gtX550 ti very little gain at low res then at 1200p 550ti even start to lose in front of your curent card.
From invidia get a 560 ti or gtx 570. Gtx 480 is old and uses more power than the other two with wery litle gain to none over the above mentioned.

Also guys, I have Acer Aspire 4750G which has Core i3 2310M and GT540M 2GB RAM (pretty low end huh?) I wanted to upgrade my GPU with like, the equivalent of 560Ti or my 5770? Is there any? Would it bottleneck? (mostly I use this laptop for my course MultiMedia Arts, but I play a few games, but not all the time)

I think you should get a 2nd 5770 for crossfire and continue saving. It would perform around 5870/gtx470 spec in games that like crossfire or don't mind it(most of the games today don't bitch much).

I thought of that way back, but I realized that when I use the 2nd card I only get 3/4 or 1/4 of the performance of my first card. I learned this when I made the topic on whether should I crossfire my mobo or not. They said that my p55gd55 mobo by MSI isn't the best board for Crossfire, AND it only supports crossfire, not SLI. SO I would like to buy only one card, and I want that card to be nVidia:) Thanks tho! :nutkick:

Suit yourself. I suggest you read some reviews on 5770 crossfire. I will just add that you should look at no less than a gtx570 then.
