Intel - INTC
ARM - ARMH
AMD - AMD

The three companies are all publicly traded, but very volatile. Unless you've got money to burn, it may be wiser to purchase other stocks. Additionally, what I consrue as your inexperience in trading stock may function detrimentally to your financial future (ie, you may lose your butt in the market).

INTC is hardly volatile, it just isn't going anywhere at the moment and you'd likely get more off of your investment through interest at the bank lol.

AMD is kinda volatile atm but it likely expecting a jump based on the console contracts they're getting.

dunno about ARM.

I think buying a notable amount of Intel stock will cost you an arm and a leg, but one day they'll announce something big like BDT procs, optical, or graphene advancement that will give them a nice boost. Problem is that sort of announcement could be 2 decades away. Might be better off using CDs.

AMD stock is pretty cheap right now. It is a good time to buy. Then again if BD flops, it's a bad time. My AMD stock still hasn't recovered from Phenom.

With a dividend yeild of ~3.2%, INTC is much better than putting money in the bank... however, that is only if the price of the stock stays put or goes up  I'm holding some shares myself. It's one of the most active volume stocks on the market, and incredibly stable right now (which is kind of boring). Anyway, I'm in for the long haul.

Right now is not a good time to invest with US government deficit default looming and all. A big sell off is in the air...

You mean the ATI buyout and Conroe/Penryn microarchitecture? Those were a 1-2 punch that AMD never recovered from.

It's better than putting it in the bank right now. If you think Intel can maintain their profits without external subsidies, large government contracts, and will always grow crazy fast like they are now, then go for it.

Intel and GM (from the 80's) have a lot in common. They currently dominate the market, but their smaller competitors are coming up on their heels fast. The APU is an interesting little experiment, which may wind up paying some hefty bills.

According to Mergent, Intel and Nvidia are a buy, and pretty much everything else in the tech sector at the moment is a hold. I did a stock project on Intel, AMD, and Nvidia, and Intel's ratios are far more sane, and they also have a beta of 1 (Intel's stock moves almost exactly as the market average does) so my choice would be Intel at the moment.

The only thing that makes me uneasy about holding Intel is the changing landscape of smart phones and tablets. Intel has hinted at gaining marketshare there, but has to produce hardware to compete with ARM, Samsung, etc. ... supposedly their magical 3D gate transistor is something that may do that.

With all the ratios we looked at, I feel Intel is doing a better job at managing the company.

AMD uses too much debt, Nvidia uses next to no debt. The best way to get more return on your investment is to use debt to the point of negative returns. Intel out of these 3 companies is the only company that has been doing so properly.

You are on the wrong side of the Atlantic, which makes profitting a much more "guesswork" game than anything unless you are willing to do your homework. Personally, I would start with things on "this side" first, like ARM or something similar. Reason being on top of your regular buy and sell research, you still have to factor in exchange rate.

Don't listen to people who recommends you not buying, as long as you have done your homework, you should be fine. You don't want RDSB for Shell because you have to pay tax on your profits to the Dutch government.

I didn't recomend anything other then putting the money in a mattres, with the way the hedges are pushing the market around, its a game for fools unless you have big $$$ and you can roll the dice hard.

Nah. I, as a poor uni student, have gambled my rent money in the markets and have made returns. Its not voodoo, and in the long term its quite hard for any hedge funds to control the outcome. My only rule is "don't bother if you don't know how the product works"

As long as you are willing to put some time into learning the fundamentals, in the long run you should earn some money.

the average return for the average investor is not positive. you've been beating the house, which isn't exceedingly common.

Realize that the market is a poker game.
