Simple question. I am wondering how many people are going to use EA's Origin (EA's version of Steam) to purchase BattleField 3.

I won't use it to purchase. I will take my happy butt to the store to buy the physical game, only so I can chip ever so slightly away from EA's profit margin.

my reply is:

I will Origin it because I pre-ordered it for £17.99 via Origin. The price was just too good to miss even though i don't like Origin as a program/service

I already have Origin installed for several EA titles, so if the price is better there i'll bite :D

Edit: they are the same price here in Canada, $59.99. So i will prolly go for Digital version as I have a tendency to lose or damage physical discs :p

Needs another option. A yes I will, if I have to, but it won't be until the day before BF3 releases because I'm hoping it comes to Steam. I already have Origin, and already have games on there (BF2 and 2142), but I have only used it to get those titles cheap so I could increase my veteran status.

More than likely I will purchase on origin if it still doesn't come to steam.

Not Origin for me.

You're forgetting that the Origin release comes with an add on map pack, which will be released to everyone else a month after BF3. The extra 9.99 is for the map pack

Origin is EA, EA owns DICE, no matter where you buy it, they are getting your money.

Steam is a much better program, plus it's from valve, so you can't go wrong there, but they usually have games they're releasing out already for pre-purchase. I have yet to see BF3 on steam.

I could be totally off base though.

That is because EA pulled BF3 from Steam to use their own version which is called Origin. I think people that pre-ordered BF3 on Steam even got refunds.

BF3 was never on Steam, it was Crysis 2 that was pulled. But BC2 didn't come to Steam till about 3 weeks before BC2 released, still 6 weeks to go on BF3, it might appear on Steam, but I would expect it to be really late as even BC2 was without this quarrel.

I pre'd it on D2D months ago. does that just mean i will actually get it through Origin? I'm guessing from the poll options Original is the only digital retailer for it now?

I was thinking something like that happened. I pre-ordered already on Origin months ago, and am waiting for the beta release.

I voted 'no' because I already bought the game from a store (paid in full preorder) but if I had to download it via Origin I would have no issues doing so. Origin, steam, d2d, whatever. If it's a game I want then I'll buy it any place I can.

Its kinda like how if you bought the orange box in store- you still had to install and run steam.

And, I'll look at the pricing first before I buy, but I'm not huge into FPS's

I have preordered it last winter on Direct2Drive, what is Origin anyway, apart from a EA 'branding'... No i am not going to check wikipedia because I really do not care what it is.

Oh my. I like the Valve guys. And I hate EA. I play some games by them, but they stink like corporate. I am a fan of World Superbikes, and the EA-WSBK games since its origen (ops! 'origin' hahaa) in 1999 never got proper support and went more and more console every year.

Ah, thanks Kurgan :)
