Well, I'm glad I saw the video.

1 That narrator is irritating, but sounds harmless, lol

2 The intro video in the game was really cool. I especially liked the bit where the asteroid scrapes against the moon and sends shrapnel flying everywhere. That video was really nicely done

3 Despite it being in a similar vein to Fallout 3, the game didn't seem to do much for me when I saw previews before. Watching this video confirmed it, so I won't be buying it. I guess I just don't dig the atmosphere and feel all that much

Yeah, just because it's post apacalyptic doesn't make it Fallout nor Borderlands. For one, this game is a true FPS, none of that lame VATS crap. Additionally, Fallout is placed in a 1950s scene after a nuclear disaster--RAGE is based in current day scenery following a major asteroid impact.

Borderlands is based on some fictional, cell-shaded planet (Pandora) that isn't necessarily post apacalyptic at all. I don't see any connection to Borderlands besides you're a guy and shoot guns (yippee).

Watching any videos ruins the whole experience. One of the reasons why i haven't watched a single Deus Ex Human Revolution video. Every time i watched videos of games, i already knew what to expect for the most part and that was it. Where if you're thrown into unknown, the experience is much different. It's like replaying a game. Sure it can be fun but it will never be the same as the first time. Even if the game offers various paths and methods to play the game.

So for the same reason i will avoid watching Rage videos. I've watched 2 of it, one buggy racing and the destroyed city and that already ruined some of the fun. No more i say!

... first off, it does remind me of borderlands. you can say it doesn't, but you aren't me; and it does. second, there is nothing wrong with statement number one being true.

If anyone in this thread is blind its you right now, the amount of praise you heap on this game and its developer makes me wonder if you wear kneepads and work for him.

That being said, it looks like a FO/Bordelandsy game. Which is not an insult to your beloved baby.

Explain, exactly, how it has any similarties to Borderlands. I can name 10 ways off the top of my head it doesn't:

1. Borderlands is cell-shaded; RAGE is not.
2. Borderlands is team-based (4 players); RAGE is not (there is a two-player co-op mode but it is missions based on the campaign--not the campaign).
3. Borderlands is on an undeveloped planet; RAGE is on Earth, ravaged by an asteroid.
4. Borderlands weapons are variables based on 4 basic categories with random settings based on level; RAGE does not have random stats for weapons as far as I can tell.
5. Borderlands is almost completely text based for communication; RAGE has more voice acting.
6. Borderlands uses Unreal Engine 3.0; RAGE uses a brand new iD Tech 5 engine.
7. Borderlands has no voice actors of notoriety; RAGE has John Goodman.
8. Borderlands has only one type of usable vehicle in the base game--four total if you include DLCs; RAGE has many.
9. Borderlands driving is painful on PC with the idiotic reliance of the mouse to steer instead of aimming the turret; doubtful RAGE is that silly.
10. Borderlands story is pathetic and not relatable; RAGE isn't and is.

That's what I gather just from watchering that 14 minute video. Once I actually play the game, the list is likely to grow much longer.
