Yeah...there is definitely a huge gap between FIFA and PES. Your video shows the differences pretty well, but we all know that EA can pump more money into that game than Konami can into PES.

I love FIFA 12. The newly implemented defensive controls will take some getting used to, but they make you a more active and tactically aware defender off the ball. The dribbling system is much improved just from FIFA 11 alone, and the new impact engine is pretty awesome. I love how FIFA is usually always evolving in one way or another. I thought going from FIFA 10 to FIFA 11 was a big step, but this one overshadowed it!

Don't get me started on the commentary! There's no arguing, PES is shit in that field. I'm looking forward to that famous line "Oooooh its a red card!".

Note that the FIFA 12 commentary too had some innacuracy init too. Like the last cup Manchester City won. Afaik, they won the FA Cup last year, not 30 or so years ago. Proof that money can't buy you everything lol.

I only played the FIFA demo, the defense looks like defending now. It was too easy to nick the ball off someone last year. Now looks like the better deal.

Haven't run into the Man City commentary yet, but I'll take note of it. Perhaps it was because it was the demo...although they've had a few months to update that commentary

The defending is definitely better. You can't just X the ball away (on PS3) like you could on FIFA 11. It's a little more involved, and takes some getting used to, but a great addition to the game play.

I have been playing FIFA 12 online and so far it's been a great experience with minimal lag and closely fought games. I've won 7, lost 3 so far but never felt cheated in the matches I lost, I just played badly.

Such a range of different goals you can score this year, it feels so much more realistic and the tactical defending seems to separate the men from the boys :)

It would seem that my intended irony has been lost on many.

If I were to say what I really mean in a more straightforward manner; FIFA 12 is a really good game with great playability. Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 is a fucking amazing football game with stupendously good playability. This of course flies in the face of 'conventional' wisdom but I have realised that mass opinion is never right with regards to computer games and the hype surrounding them (CoD best FPS ever made anyone?).

The point of the video was to parody all the praise that FIFA gets bestowed upon it in addition to all the derision that PES gets, whilst the latter clearly plays a much more stunning and enthralling game of football. The FIFA goals shown in the video (dribble up line, cut-back, finesse shot) illustrate just exactly how broken the FIFA AI is. Getting a good goal in FIFA is actually very hard (at least on World Class), scoring one these cut-backs however is a piece of piss and therefore is the #1 route to goal in the game. To any football loving video gamer, these goals stink of rancid piss and are the blight of multiplayer as a serious competition, although perhaps the extent of this stinkiness will be lost on an American audience.

PES sucks. It sucked ever since 2009. Oh yeah and it has two different names as well.

Considering we're in Asia, we get both the American version (thus known as "Winning Eleven") but also the "International" version (known as "Pro Evolution Soccer").

Although they're both ports, at least FIFA is ported better (and actually looks better now, the only advantage PES had since 2009).

And the licensing issue too, albeit a very minor one, really annoys me. What annoys me further is that Konami has exclusive rights to J.League and the Japanese National Team that I can't play the J.League in Football Manager! And now FM2012 requires f**king Steam now.

Cos FIFA have the exclusive rights to the English Premiership, I have to play as Middlebrook and London Blue in Pro Evo.

If your a FIFA fan you will love FIFA 2012, its similar but with some slight improvements that i would say the FIFA fans will like. If your a PES fan you can expect a lot of good changes and fixes over the last few titles. Neither game does anything to win over fans of the other title. Same old case of if your a total fan of one game you will think the other is pants.

PES isnt out yet in the UK. FIFA was okay i think its better than the last few FIFA games. Its a good time to be in the market for a footy game.

If your not really a big fan of either game id say try both finished games and see which one you get a feel for.
