I just want to run around to see some decent ones , the router is like 10 meters away but there are 3 walls that separate it in apartment.

Actually i need something good to be able to have priority pulling a stable connection (kind of a greedy thing :p) so i don't want cheap ones --- but i don't NEED super cool ones either , the network top speed is about ~1 MB/s or 8 Mbit/s

I want to get some multiplayer going on - Strategy games mostly, some FPS for good measure.

I have no idea in this market at all - so thanks for help.ž

The network suffers from occasional connection jams as it slows down when a lot of ppl are on at evenings; would be nice if a good card can somehow pirate some of the signals away for it's benefit :p

Ready with my experties , maybe there is some open source drivers for these things i liked to tweak with , i got my LinkSys router in DD-WRT and it's 10 times better than original Linksys firmware.

Is asus any good in this market ?

Just a plain Wireless G card with a larger antenna would suffice.

I have a cheap D-Link in my main PC ATM and I have no issues.

I think D-Link is on top in this market , so far so good , but it's bad how stuff comes 50 $ on Amazon it sells 80€ in local shops (107$)

aha found some stuff called MADWIFI and "master mode"

Seems like

D-Link DWA-556 Wireless N PCIe Desktop Adapter 75.60 €

D-Link DWA-547 Wireless N PCI Adapter 39.60 €

Why the huge price difference just over interface - but PCIe one definitely looks newer and has Draft 2.0 ...

Weird with the 547 version , 2 sites different pics

site 1

site 2

Well , the site 2 is private dealer but a very good one , the site 1 is a more major etailer but it's not bad at all. Well that's up to me i guess to decide.

EDIT: well 556 is much newer version with better 2010 drivers and actually x64 for win7 , the older one has 2009 last driver update - crap.

probably not - we'll have my old-sitting-in-the-closet BEFSR-41 linksys router for some LAN - or better 2 PCs have crossbridge cable or what that's called i lost the word now ... cross ... something ethernet cable - but i tried that with a normal ethernet cable and it worked between two PCs , but im unsure about the laptop.

Well i hope i can go with this ... seems reasonable. But i hope i can find open source drivers.

anyways - anyone still anything to add can welcome , i'll order this tomorrow if i do not see a better deal

EDIT: also anntennas can be unscrwewed and better ones attached , it's really up to the antenna a lot ?

The range power is in the anntenna i guess , but i think chipset does play a role no ? I refused to use USB stuff.

If that's the case even a Wifi G USB adapter would suffice.
