*le sigh* game keeps deciding to crash to desktop - it's not too frequent, however it does seem to happen once every hour and a half or so. Bethesda better release a patch or else...

If there's one thing Bethesda does, it's release patches... and one thing they do even better, is open the games to the Mod Community, so that THEY can release even better patches ;) "Wait fer it!!!"

This is the first open-world rpg game I have ever played, and I have to say that I am overwhelmed.

Do not get me wrong though, I am starting to really like this game. It is so open with a plethora of side quests to do if you just talk to people.

The graphics of this game are alright and I really like the "epic-style" music. I have followed all of the online articles on the .ini editing as well as maxed out the game at 1080p and with the system listed in my system specs to the left, I average about 60 fps, which is weird because I turned off vsync in the .ini file :ohwell:

Just cause you're averaging 60 doesn't mean necessarily mean vsync still on...

Been playing this game for 5 hours.

I have a few gripes with the game.
Despite this being a game engine built from the ground up, it personally feels like it's not.
It feels like it's just a revised gamebryo engine.

Right click to arm and attack with the left hand and vice versa is annoying.

I think Mussels mentioned this.

It feels like inverted mouse buttons.

I'm pretty sure it is just revised. You know you can swap those buttons around in settings. I had issues with the UI but now that I'm use to it I can get around with a minimum of button pressing.

On another note, did anyone else end up with Kate Beckinsale?

Well it basically is
Wikipedia said:
The resulting game engine was dubbed the Creation Engine, which was based on the Gamebryo engine used for Oblivion and Fallout 3,[17] and will be utilized in the production of at least one of Bethesda's projects beyond Skyrim.[30] After Fallout 3's release, the team devised numerous design objectives to meet for Skyrim, and as Howard described, the team "got all those done and kept going".

Shows how much I have been following the development of TESV.
Will change those mouse buttons around first thing when I get back into the game.

Oh that's right, when I was first learning to cast spells, I tried setting a chicken on fire wondering if I would get fried chicken.
It must have been a sacred chicken or something, instead I had all the townsfolk chase me out of town.

I'm not going to buy this game until it comes down in price and there are patches out.
I'm not I promise.
Nope, not going to do it.

Shit ... installing retail version now.

Jeeze.. give em a break..

I won't give companies a break for game breaking issues like CTDs once the game is released (all the ingame bugs I can wait on fixes for, but this stops me playing). A quick google finds quite a few people having CTDs with Skyrim, so it isn't a machine specific issue either.

Being fairly new to the series I find myself just wandering randomly.. which is both good and bad.

Couple things
- When I kill someone and steal their horse, is their any way to make it not run away when I get off it?
- Game definitely needs an HD pack to come out, even with the tweaks the textures themselves are just way too low res.
- At what point in the storyline is it safe to just wander off and do side quests and whatnot.. I'm worried I might wander too far and somehow make the main quest line too easy or uncompletable

i have not had a single crash at all, and i left the game open for 5 hours straight.

really, look into your system stability. people just love blaming the software, when its their hardware/OC.

this game floats my boat.

Anytime should be fine. No side stuff broke Oblivions main quest(s).
If you got far enough in the main quest to initiate the dragons, it may not be safe to wander to far, but it won't break anything.

When you get the quest for the Greybeards, I would suggest getting some sidequests done first and level up a bit. There's a couple of trolls on the way that are a PITA.
