well its a matter of opinion. I immerse myself in a world that was marketed as one to be immersed in. The game looks good at a distance but thats not exactly what i ment by graphics. using a brighter white color pallet on the side of the tree that the sun comes up on in the game looks pretty but when you actually look at it its not all that great. Dragons are cool and shit but their are far more trees then dragons and they dont have cars so I walk alot.

texture mods really helped oblivion, they'll help skyrim too. you just need to be patient and wait for them. The oblivion mods didn't launch immediately, neither will the skyrim ones be out on day 4.

that said comparing default oblivion to default skyrim shows marked improvement. I can agree on trees and other things not being as good as they should for 2011 (comparing to crysis in 2007) but it still looks much better than default oblivion.

and i feel the point has to be made again: the scale of the project is such that concessions have to be made. my gripe would be more aimed at the console based development that limits their willingness to push boundaries. I can play this on high/ultra with a single 5850 on stock volts without slowdown, so to me that means it doesn't require enough processing power.

i really don't want that to be taken as a gripe though, that's if anything. i really am completely happy with this game, which doesn't happen to often :)

I'm playing a High Elf because I liked the way they looked and remembered they were more magic(ka)-oriented. I had been using Imperial Light Armor for a while, but switched out some pieces for Hide Armor that I crafted and acquired, and am now considering using the Wolf Armor I just got since I think it classifies as Light and it looks really damn cool.

I'm a fucking Werewolf too. BOSS.

I am that too. My character is named Slith, he's an Argonian. Why? Simply because I have never played an Argonian in any TES game before. Oh and I really like that Histskin power that it gives you. It's health regeneration at 10x the normal rate, which means you are almost invincible for a full minute. Wearing the Elven armor at the moment:

You know, instead of giving us these ridiculous companions, they could have given the game a coop mode. That would have kicked all kinds of butt.

This looks like a valuable diamond. I can't pick it up... :(

Textures that remind me of the first Nintendo and Zelda:

Is it a treebird or a birdtree? It's both a tree and a bird. And it was making a weird sound.

It isn't all bad though:

Remember how you could stack alchemy potions in Morrowind if you wanted to min max? A lot of people got upset about that for some reason, so I think they nerfed it in Oblivion and Skyrim.
There is no reason in Skyrim, though, why you can't make +Enchant potions once you have lvl.100 alchemy. Get lvl.100 Enchant skill, drink the potions and Enchant a set of armor with +Alchemy.

Use that to brew +Enchanting potions. Drink them, then make a +Smithing set of armor. Brew some +Smithing potions. Get lvl.100 Smithing, wear the smithing armor and then drink the +Smithing potions to upgrade the Daedric set until (Legendary).

Use the +Alchemy armor to make +Enchanting potions, drink them, and make a +Enchanting armor.
Wear that and Enchant damage, armor, resist magic, stamina & health on the upgraded Daedric armor set.
You now have crazy gear.

EDIT: Just checked the guide book, there are no ingredients that fortify alchemy. Good job Bethesda, this game is pretty balanced. Except for one fatal flaw: There are ingredients for +enchant, and there are +alchemy enchantments. The ingredients for this plan are hard to come by though, if anyone was wondering. Sabre cats and hagravens, butterflies, you need hundreds of things for this to work. I won't be trying that's for sure.

Steam says I have been playing this game for 36 hours.
A buddy of mine has already acquired 100 skill smithing and over 1million gold.

Found four quest bugs so far.
Three of them being serious enough to break the quests.
Fortunately I have been able to resolve the quest issues.

It's been great and necessary quite a few time to have a companion.
I set mine up sort of like a tank, armor them up as best as possible then give them dual fireball staffs.

Is it a treebird or a birdtree? It's both a tree and a bird. And it was making a weird sound.

It's a broken magic parrot animation. Like in the beginning of Oblivion it should be flying around in front of you.

I CAN'T stand these companions! They mess up every fight for me so I have stopped using them. I'm stealth and like to dagger people in the back but my companions are always to noise so when we get close the bad guy turns around and starts attacking me.:banghead:

steam of course tracks the total time open, so it will track paused time, loading screens/initial launch menu, as well as add all of your retries together. so everytime you load a save it just adds time rather than reset to where you were.
i only mention this because there is an in game counter which will just tell you how long you've been playing in game, not in menus, paused, or reloading saves.

no quest bugs myself, but i really haven't done that many in my 35 hours :) too much fun making my own goals :)

screw that. i don't trust them to not screw something up just following, let alone carry valuable loot by themselves :)
obviously i like the idea, but only if it was menu based and error free. if they actually run back to town themselves and can get killed(kinda cool), or simply disappear as they do(not cool), no thanks.

It's a broken magic parrot animation. Like in the beginning of Oblivion it should be flying around in front of you.

Yeah these funny bugs are to be expected in this game, just like Oblivion had them.
I have a feeling they will be there even after another patch.

I've seen a Jarl sitting on the arm rest of a throne,
A black smith pulling on air while working.
NPC sitting down drinking with no cup in hand.
A Dragon dive bombing an NPC straight into a river then appears beside the river on the ground with a big chunk of health taken off yet the NPC is still alive.
Companion sometimes beats up whatever I had summoned.
Hit by a giant so hard that my character infinitely carries on up into the sky.

Damn, just checked--Wolf Armor is classified as Heavy. BUT, it only has a weight of 4, so it wouldn't be too bad for a Mage since it is on par for most Heavy Armor at a fraction of the weight.

Wolf Armor is a great armor for it's level, but it's not something that will compete with anything past Steel Armor, which is pretty low level, I had moved onto Dwarven by level 10, Orcish by 15, and skipped Ebony and been working on Daedric since 22.

Some screens from a day of Skyrim today:

My character at one point:
I prefer the glass armor over the dragonscale armor, each piece of dragon scale is only a few points better, but it doesn't look nearly as nice. I did have the glass boots, but I sold them already before I took the screenshot, and my ebony gloves give +30% archery damage
http://img.techpowerup.org/111115/TESV 2011-11-15 02-55-05-09.jpg

Reading this confuses me. You compare Dragon Armor (granted I know there is Light and Heavy versions) to Glass Armor (Light Armor). Then you say you wear Ebony Gloves (Heavy Armor). If you wear a matching set of armor, the Heavy Armor bonuses will make it worth it. Why use Heavy and Light Armor?

i agree to much color saturation is bad i just saw alot of this shit in oblivion and for "ultra" i expected more.

The game is massive, and it was built with consoles as the lead platform. As with anything in life, if you go looking for problems, you will find them. I haven't gone tree licking myself, or ran and looked at things in an un-natural way. I have just played the game, and did what was fun, and I haven't noticed too many things stand out, though I know they are there. But because a few spots have horribad textures like that doesn't mean the game as a whole is Oblivion level. The amount of detail is drastically better, even a highly modded Oblivion looks pretty aged now days.

yeah i don't use companions. i just don't see how they could really make the experience better, as being dependent on ai for that long is just asking for problems to arise.

I use them as mules. They are almost invaluable, allows me to come back with 2 - 3k worth of vendor junk. If it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't use them.

i dont know if anyone else is getting crashes every 20-40 mins but if you are

go to the games install folder and find the TESV exe right click run it as admin, it starts the game WITHOUT steam, and so far had 0 crashes since, apparently for me Skyrim + steam is whats causing 99% of my game crashes,

Yeah...the game could just teleport/fast travel them there. In fact I think that's what it essentially does, since Oblivion, with a lost/stuck companion after they get a certain distance behind you. Suddenly there they are again.

Your graphics aren't maxed out dude, cause once you do this game looks nothing like Nintindo's Zelda.

On a side note, skyrim street view.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kElxR6PIacI&feature=player_embedded

They are maxed... Maybe the game didn't load some textures?

But it's not bad looking overall, far from it. Big improvement on Oblivion even if it doesn't make your machine beg for mercy. I'm an eye candy whore too. Furthermore, mods will improve and polish it all majorly so...

Speaking of which here is one to make the game large address aware tho Nexus appears to be overloaded atm:

www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=134

Found from this "10 Best So Far" list:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/14/the-10-best-skyrim-mods-so-far/
Is the large address aware mod/patch rumored to have a significant effect on performance?

I CAN'T stand these companions! They mess up every fight for me so I have stopped using them. I'm stealth and like to dagger people in the back but my companions are always to noise so when we get close the bad guy turns around and starts attacking me.:banghead:

Yeah.. I also hate horses. They attack anything on sight even if I was on stealth mode. Stupid creature dies instantly as well when ganged up by 3 or more bandits.. not to mention they are like 1000 septims worth -_-.
