Broken Ipod touch screen

Today while crossing the street my ipod fell out of my pocket and the screen got smashed

I would like to replace the screen and I was checking ebay for some stuff to replace it, and I was wondering if all I really needed was this. The screen works fine except when I apply pressure around the cracks it goes a blueish white. Has anyone else gone through this process?

It's a Ipod touch 4th gen, I use it for music and going on reddit while I poop.

Thank you good sir, I'm tired of cutting my fingers off the glass :laugh:

I have tape on there till I can get a proper screen protector

Looks like the screens fine it's just the glass thats cracked, do you really need to replace the screen?

Is the 4th gen the model that got released with the iphone 4 ? if it is you will need the full front Assembly because the LCD is stuck to the glass to prevent dust and cant be removed.

It is the 4th gen, and the set I'm looking at has some sort of sticker, could this be to stick the screen back on?

You can find a load of videos showing you how to change your glass it doesn't look like apple stuck the LCD to the glass on the 4th gen looks similar to the iphone 3g/3gs but you will need a hair dryer to remove the glass from the front frame.

EDIT looks like i was right so you will need to buy the full Assembly because the LCD is glued to the glass just like it is on the iphone 4.

I can get the LCD and the digitizer separate for only about $8, do you think i should do that or would the screen kinda flop around?

mite be loose if it needs to be glued together your better off getting one that complete it will be less trouble installing it

coz dedicated is better, phone with mp3 player at the same time may lead you to shorter time of usage before you recharge it.
i usually bring phones and mp3 player

I don't have a phone but I do have Skype credits and text plus almost everywhere has free wifi if I want to make a call or text someone and I don't need to pay monthly
