DAS Mechanical Keyboards are amazing!

I got a DAS Mechanical Keyboard for christmas. I got the one with MX Brown switchings and it has to be the greatest thing I've ever gotten for my computer through out the years. Its amazing to type on, game on, and everything else. I highly Recommend y'all to get one!

I'm currently on my second steelseries g6v2. First one only lasted a month, then some of the main keys springs where already worn out. RMA it and got a replacement. Had this one for a for few weeks and it's already starting to show the same problems.
If this dies on me too, then I'm never touching a steelseries product again.

I love my TT Meka G1, and my cousin loves his Razer BlackWidow... Mechanical is def something worth trying. I personally type slower with this keyboard though, and while I like the feel of it and it is built like a tank, idk if it was worth the 3.5X cost of my OCZ Elixir Keyboard (something like 16$ new vs 70$ used)

My OCZ Elixir has rubberized keys so the typing is also very comfortable in a completely different way. It also has a much shallower dept of key, meaning the you hit bottom quickly enough, which is why I type faster with it then my TT Mechanical keyboard. The Razer BlackWidow just makes too much noise and it gets way too annoying for anything really IMO. I don't mind my purchase though as I prefer this keyboard to my old one and I had a major upgrade itch... it also forces me to start typing correctly xD

I haven't had much experience with mech keyboards, but I don't think you're supposed to bottom out with mechanical keyboards. That's one of the fundamental differences of mechanical keyboards, and also why some switches like Cherry MX blues and reds have a click once you past the actuation point.

Granted, there is no proper technique for typing, so type as you like.

Once you get a good mechanical keyboard like the Das it does change your view on typing as a whole. It's hard to describe but the feel and sound as you type is so much better then using a rubber dome keyboard. Das does offer Education discount program. There is also the Rosewell Mechanical Keyboard. But typically they are around a $100 or so.

The most popular mx cherry switches so far are the browns and the blues. The gist is that the blues also have that tactical sound/bump (they have a "click" sound). They are specially geared for touch typists. Very little down force is needed to get the key to register, thus the click noise you hear before bottoming out. The Browns are more of a in between for gaming and typing as it allows for better double tapping response time (strifing, etc). They have no "click" sound. The other mx cherry switches such as the blacks, reds, etc are more preference oriented. You would have to try them out.

i have 3 brand new keyboard i still havent tried there just sitting on my shelf over there. ones a razer mechanical i heard it very nice, the other is a saitek cyborg and the other is some razer glow in the dark crap im too busy using my g19 love this thing, but ill eventaully give that razer mech a try.

It all depends on what you are doing. Having a tactile bump on these certain switches really don't serve a purpose for our gaming needs. That's why the cherry blacks are sought after. The reds are EOL if I recall. Essentially the blacks with a tactile bump like you said. It's all preference really. But yeah if you want to rattle away with typing, bottoming out isn't the best thing haha. Gaming, you will bottom out. So it won't matter.

I can hear it just fine lol. Having 9 nine case fans in my HAF 932 for a long enough time helped me learn to drown out that noise. But it helps to actually hear what each switch sounds like. The blacks like I was saying don't have that tactile bump and it is fairly smooth on every keystroke. Great video. nvidiaintelftw, you have a mighty fine keyboard there. Those switches are awesome for both typing and gaming. They are in between reds and clears. They make it nice for double tapping keys quite easily.

Nah, they don't click. They make noise when you bottom out but they don't have that tatical click about midway down. Here are some diagrams.

Yea, I've been learning to type without bottoming out with this keyboard, but then I miss some letters,which makes sense since Blacks are the most resistant. Maybe I should have gone with MX Reds (right now 80$ on newegg.ca), but I love the build quality of the TT Meka G1

I have a Zowie Celeritas and i never tire of explaining the virtues of a mechanical keyboard, seriously if you type a lot you owe it to yourself as they are amazing! The Zowie i have also has Cherry MX Brown Switches. MX Browns are tactile but non clicky, the sound comes from bottoming out so if you can learn to not bottom out its silent. They have a small bump at the actuation point (where the switch registers a press).

I wonder how the "Silent" version is? Still get a tactile click without the noise?

Wow, I actually really like the idea. Just for the sole reason how much it would screw with the peeps who come over and try to use it.

I was going get one last year but i needed key binding as well, as i do really like the look of their keyboards.
