and its still alive...now my question..the pump on the H50, since the pipes are naff now and i think its out of warrenty (ive e-mailed corsair) could i just remove the old pipes and add my own res and rad combo (prolly the old rad) since the pump is fine would this be plausable?? to cool like a core 2 duo or somthing?

mods have been done before putting micro-res' in line. As long as you get the right diameter to stretch over the fittings of the H50 or buy clamps for slightly larger tubing, you should be fine with what you want to do.

make 100% sure your rig is dry before you repower it. and yes new tubing will fix you up. i run a custom water setup with 1/2 inch barbs and use 7/16 id tubing. its a vert tight fit to slide the tubing on, but no leaks and no clamps for the clean look.

but for novice's i recomend clamps.

after you get the unit refilled unhook the 24 pin and the cpu power plug from the mobo, that way you have no power running through the mb. then use a jumper wire on the green, and any black wire of the 20 or 24 pin plug. that will power up the psu and pump. i let mine run for several hours to check for leaks.

Here is my h50 mod, a little tip for for getting the pipes on, get some very hot water, and dip the ends of the tubing in there for a little bit and the tubes expand an slide on easier but be quick because they shrink and get tight again quickly.

Getting the old tubes off is fiddley just try not to mark up the barbs, I ended up using some cable ties on mine as they are covered by the h50 pump shroud just for piece of Mind

temps were only about 8 degrees lower then the standard H50, the tubing is 8mm OD - 6mm ID

in-case your curious my H50 is about 2 years old and has been running with the dual rad above for about 15 months

Either will probably work (Micro for sure) could probably push a 150 but I wouldnt go bigger then that. But thats my opinion.

When you start with water-cooling you will never get the temperature under ambiance.
I fix it and build a Peltier cooling , have a look at the chase mod. Forum.(Blue Wonder)
Temp of the CPU in idle 13 degrees Celsius whit prime 95 Torture test cpu temp 22 degrees Celsius.
