Last night I noticed my system wouldn't boot. It just restarted frantically and beep. So, I figured I would reapply the thermal paste ( which I thought was the issue originally.)

Upon closer inspection I noticed that some sort of liquid was in the PICe sockets and in random places on my mobo.

Apparently, the ECO A.L.C had leaked and the cooling fluid slowly made its way down the board and nearly flooded the PCIe sockets. :banghead:

Sad to say the ECO lasted me almost a only year and a half.

SOME PICS for those who are visual animals. 56k Beware

Wow what a nightmare. I mean I run a "regular" loop and I always worry about such things. These enclosed loops are "supposed" to take that worry out of the equation, I guess not....
Sorry to see this but you should be getting ALL over them about this!

Man that sucks ! You should contact them about this and see if they will replace your setup ! I mean they are enclosed and not supposed to leak at all ! Sorry that this happened to you hope you can get it fixed .

Tell me about it. I've contacted them using their rather confusing RMA service, and now I play the waiting game...

If they don't pay for the PC, don't worry. The damage is nothing that can't be repaired. PCs can still work fine with a little water.

Try cleaning these parts and drying them for 24 hours or use a dryer. Then assemble them back and see what happens.

I once wanted to kill my PC, and poured water into the system. The system shutdown immediately, I thought that was it. Next morning, out of the blue, the system booted and workedd fine, then I ripped off a couple of caps, to my amazement it still worked. Then I tore off a couple of Dimms and a PCIe slot. It still worked. Ultimately, I broke the board in half. Lol. That was cheap Gigabyte btw.

Thats brutal. The thing is, you cant use a hair drier because its cooling fluid. Its a mother lover that wont just dry. Really nasty stuff.

If you can't resuscitate the hardware they should replace it. That's what happened when someones H50 leaked.

I would pour a bottle alcohol on the parts ( soak it if you will ) taking a paint brush and clean every crevice and part carefully . This will rid the liquid from the MB and let it dry for 48 hours after . It should work just fine .

Yeah, you need to clean the fluid first with rubbing alcohol or a damp cloth, and then dry it.

Glad to see you got your stuff running again. I don't have an enclosed system but i check it every few days. Just a quick glance to check. Btw. The time i build my system i read somewhere that distilled water is not conductive. Any thoughts on that?

Distilled water is conductive alright but if you get cooling fluid on your hardware, distilled water will dissolve it because its really hard to air dry it. I literally submerged my board into distilled water for 20 seconds and moved it around to let all the parts get soaked. Isopropyl alcohol is another good one though.

Just in case you've missed my other post. lol

Coolit sent me a Vantage. FYI, I discovered some corrosion on my mobo that was hiding under the heatsinks and cleaned it using isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. Everything has been running well for almost a week now :)

Hey, 2 days ago I had the same disaster happen to me. My Eco Cool It system sprayed and leaked water over about half of my system. Only had it for about a year and I'm waiting to hear back from them on replacing it.

I was wondering about how long you let your hardware dry before you reassembled and tried to boot it up again?

Also, what did you use to wipe down the system with the isopropyl alcohol?

Is your system is still running by any chance?

Thanks,

Spit
