I plan to buy a 120gb SSD for my new rig, but I don't know which one is the most stability on the market. I don't want to get any BSOD or freeze. Thanks.

I'm interested in this as well. I'm curious what the recommended brand is for speed too.

I've used the Intel x25m and their 320s without issues. I chose them for their reputation and because I've heard bad things about the RMA process for other companies. My friends Crucial SSD died in a few weeks and the RMA took FOREVER. The replacement died a few days later. 6 months went by and the 3rd drive is finally working. I've delt with Intel RMA (on a motherboard) and it was painless. I've never had a bad product from Intel. The board that was RMA'd was actually damaged from a liquid spill.

If you want to have absolutely 0 headaches, I recommend you get a samsung 830, crucial m4, or any of the intel drives.

I bought an Intel 320 over the faster and cheaper OCZ drives, simply for reliabilty. I don't want my OS drive crashing AT ALL, even if it only takes a little while to RMA it...

Either one you choose, if you're coming from a HDD, you'll be satisfied. The little bit of extra speed you might get from an OCZ or something isn't worth the risk IMO.

This question usually ends the same each time. Crucial M4. Yeah it just had it's first major bug but it's already patched and every SSD should be updated as soon as you get it so that's irrelevant now. You get more usable space and the fastest real world performance and usually the best price to top it all. The 256 was at $340 a week ago on newegg. M4s go on sale more than any other SSD at newegg. The OCZ 128 GB petrol is on sale now, and in theory that should be comparable, but it hasn't really been out long enough to know it's reliability. I'd just wait for another M4 sale.

Ok... Shit you not, Drive 3 just failed this morning. You now have my official opinion of Crucial SSDs. :banghead: NEVER again will I own a Crucial SSD. All 3 of my Intel SSDs are stable.

I'm really surprised to hear this about Crucial as I've always known them to be reliable. I can't speak much to their RMA process as I've never dealt with it (though from what I gather from other places it is generally a non-issue, or at least it was at some point in time).

Crucial Technology holds an A+ rating from the BBB and also a 9.63/10 from ~3000 votes on ResellerRatings.

Your friend certainly is having terrible luck with those drives, but I'd ask if there is the possibility for an underlying issue. That said, on one PC I built for someone I had to RMA Corsair memory twice before I got a good pair (their RMA process was pretty painless).

*I actually went ahead and reread your posts. You stated that you will never again own a Crucial SSD, but wasn't it your friend who owned them? I'm only asking because I hate to see you hitting your head against a brick wall.

I bought the drive from him months ago for my gf back when it worked. It failed again in her rig. It's intermittent and likely a bad solder joint. I stuck it outside for awhile and managed to clone it to a spinner which is installed and working now.

This jargon is above my pay grade. Please enlighten me as to what this means (INB4 Google is your friend, for in this case it was not).

clone is "exact copy" and "spinner" is a circumventing device, a.k.a. disc, a.k.a hard disc drive. ;)

Ahh, okay. Definitely makes sense now. I was trying to think of some other colloquialisms when I wrote this, but my thinker wasn't helping any.
