keeping this post short and sweet.

disabled crossfire in catalyst; tested bf3; maxed settings but with anti-aliasing off.
fps hovered between 70 to 90 (with just ONE 6870).

I was surprised. Why is it so high with a 6870?!

re-activiated crossfire; frames are the exact same. i see zero improvement.
is this normal? or is there something actually wrong?

Seems more like CrossFire performance to me. Check your GPU usage in GPU-Z or Afterburner.

does it only take one download of the CAP files from AMD drivers?

Seems more like CrossFire performance to me. Check your GPU usage in GPU-Z or Afterburner.

after i disable crossfire in catalyst, bf3 runs at 70 to 90 with just one card. gpu usage, according to gpu-z is at least 90%. there is no gpu usage on the second card (whether crossfire is activated or not in catalyst).

at least i don't notice it. there may be a random jump of gpu usage on the second card but then goes back to zero within half a second.
