looking at purchasing and ssd mostly for gaming so i dont need the fastest thing in the world i would like it reliable, i currently have 2 samsung HDD im wondering is there any benefit to moving my OS over to the SSD other then having a faster boot time. i plan to run fraps off of one of the HDD as i always have and use that same drive for media storage. im looking for maybe a smaller SSD just for games? or would i be better off putting OS and games on a single SSD. was thinking maybe getting just a 60-64gb drive. how much faster is sata 3 vs sata 2? would it be noticable, i mean a 1 second load time difference probly isnt going to make much of a difference to me

Not only windows but every software installed on your SDD will be much faster because of access time m/s & will open in a flash when clicked (forgot the C in clicked good for me that i re-read my post)

Anyhow the price on of the SDD you link is a good price but i don't know about the brand if it's a good one?

I have a crucial M4 64GB, it is very fast and so far has served me well. I just have my OS plus my favorite 3 games on it, load times are just unbeleivable. If you can get them for a decent price I would definatly recommend the M4 however as you said, you will not need the very fastest and there are sure to be cheaper offerings.

SATA III is going to be severely bottlenecked on your x58,i would go with a vertex 2 for your needs

The reviews on new egg forthose ssds are terrible any reason why you recommend them or maybe the bugs have been worked out since initial release?

there has been alot of firmware updates. Sandforce drives were initially a little buggy,but alot of that has been ironed out.

That looks decent arc but I won't be raiding...well maybe in the future but it's not needed now. Anyone headed about ocz petrol or agility series both have rebates on 120 gb drives. Petrol 120 gb for like $100 and agility is $129

Of course, no need to RAID.

I have found these to be reliable, reasonably fast drives at a decent price (I paid $100 each when I bought mine in November of 2010).

In my experience on a Sata 2 board (mine also..... x58), a decent Sata 3 SSD that of course is backwards compatible performs just as well as the most Sata 2 drives, I would be the first to admit however my experience is limited, before this drive I had a Sata 2 OCZ Vertex 2E and this M4 in the tests I have run is faster.

I have a 120GB Agility 3. It works pretty darn well. I've got it just for my Steam games and a few other programs, though. I'm booting off my RAID 10 setup...
