A Sapphire-branded CPU cooler was spotted at CeBIT. The unnamed cooler bears a conventional tower-type heatsink design, but sports a fan shroud holding two 120 mm blue LED-lit fans in place. The buzzword here is Vapor Chamber. We already know how Sapphire has been using Vapor Chamber technology on some of its higher-end graphics cards. Sapphire's tower-type cooler is said to incorporate this technology to help transfer heat from the base to the aluminum fin stacks. That, however, doesn't mean the cooler is devoid of heat-pipes. It appears to have over four of them, about 8 mm thick. The source mentions the cooler as having a thermal load capacity of up to 200W.

Its nothing but a rebranded Frio OCK thats been glammed up with the use of LED fans and extra LEDs under the shroud.

As much as I used like Sapphire's cards I don't understand what the reason for going with st00pid LED illumination is. I ahd to tape over the blue LED on my HD5770 Vapor-X because that thing was illuminating my room. I will not be buying another Sapphire's product again given that other manufacturers are perfectly capable of putting together products that are just as low noise as Sapphire's but they don't come with obnoxious lights.

Sapphire: if I really wanted to illuminate my room, I would simply TURN THE LIGHTS ON. Can you comprehend that ? Zitty 15 year-olds don't pay for your products and they are about the only demographic that *might* be interested in dumbass lighting inside computer.

If thats the best reason you can come up with to boycott a manufacturer - A manufacturer that is AMD's #1 partner and makes some awesome cards then you are just as immature as those zitty 15y.o boys.

Why yes, yes it is. They make some nice cards but since the downsides more than offset the upsides I woudl be stupid to keep supporting their daft design decisions. Other manufacturers make cards that are equally well cooled, yet they come without any accompanying unpleasantries.

You see, unlike you and other zitty 15 year old kids I do get to vote with the only thing that counts - money ;)

thats quite rich seeing as my rig is worth 10x 5770 vapour X's (the cards cost about £150 here - so you do the math)

but lets not turn this into a pissing match.
