Fast monitor but problem watching movies...

if in the reproduction of a MOVIE i fill "discomfort" at the eyes in general and particularly in the moving scene in which the image is a bit "confused" (I'm talking about when the cam moving fast and then the view is moving) .. . it more than anything, an effect like trails: during fast moving scenes are framed as objects tended to be confused with each other without maintaining their distinction and was "tiring" with the eye to follow these scenes

sounds like the screen was tearing or your streaming a movie and you dont have enough bandwidth

What do you have the refresh rate set to on the monitor?
Max is 75Hz so if it's set to 60Hz you could try bumping it up.

where can I check?

(windows 7....ati catalist for 4870x2)

Right click on desktop and go to screen resolution. From there click advanced settings.
Click on the monitor tab and it will show you the refresh rate.

has setted to 59HZ (have 2 choice: 59 and 60)

are 60HZ the right choice?

You should always set the refresh rate at the highest you can.
Do you have the OEM monitor drivers loaded?
From what I read the monitor should be capable of doing 75Hz. If you are using the default Windows driver (as opposed to the OEM driver) it may be limitting what you can do.

LG W2486L-PF drivers are installed, ... in the manual it says the refresh rate is 60hz at 1920x1080 (75 only for smaller resolutions)

Hmmm ... 60Hz should be sufficient for movie playback as it's fine on my monitor.

it is possible that the cause of the problem is the wrong setting to 59Hz?

You really shouldn't notice a difference between the two. Set it at 60Hz just to make sure. If that doesn't do it, the monitor could well be faulty. I had this issue with a Viewsonic monitor once, replacing it fixed the problem.

may have to untick the option of supporting refresh rates not supported. Thats how I found out my NEC Multisync LCD 1700V supports 75Hz

What is the response time? sounds like ghosting and is normal for monitors with a slow response time, theres nothing wrong nor nothing you can do if thats the case.

Edit, response time seems to be fine (2ms G2G) is this all video sources or just DVD/.AVI etc?

response time is a good 2ms and in game i don see problem .... the video source i try is .avi and dvd


p.s. I try to set 60hz in the windows panel (also "apply" ) but it return automatically to 60hx when I re-open the panel

Try disabling the Catalyst Control Center and see if windows will let you switch to 75hz under screen resolution settings.

the monitor not support 75hz at 1920 but only 60hz (sey the user manual)

The board in the monitor is defective. Return it for a new one.

I dont have warranty and the problem not are evident, not are a "defect" monitor



P.s. here talk about problem 59Hz http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1466098 ... but I do not know whether the 59Hz entails problems and if the cause of "my" problem
