Or go with a 975 chipset. I've tested them both and my opinion is the 975 is the pentium and the 965 is the celeron. I like my 975 alot better then the 965 no matter what I about the 965 being faster. I went thru 4 boards to finally settle on the Intel d975xbx2. Awesum board. Stable. Very cool running as opposed to the p5b and p5w asus boards. It's a bit more expencive at $199 but it took my e6600 to 3.5ghz on air plus this board has 3 pcix slots for crossfire+physics (if it's proven it works) and the audio controller is WORLDS BETTER then the realtech pos asus used.

in performance tests, P965 chipset has proven to give more than 975X, as all around 975 is better ;)

It's been argued. The final word was there's no difference in performance, which was the hype on the 965 having a faster mch. There are 3 versions of the 965 and I don't know all the differences or which was tested against the 975x. I chose the 975x because it has -real- crossfire support not "cheating" thru the southbridge to add a second pcix slot like the 965 does.

ley me comment on the CPU cooler you chose!

E6400 @ 3.4ghz
idle 30c
load 39c

but don't pay $60

if your a "flebay" member you can get it for $28 right now!

Same cooler on ebay for cheaper!
