Has anyone played it yet? Is it any good? Graphics wise i have no doubts, but i was unsure about the way it plays. Especially the "block" movement way.

the game is fun but i think it may fall into the "level up" trap where you level up but the guys get equally harder making the purpose of leveling up kinda fail.

Is it level up trap or just harder mobs on deeper levels?
Go back up to a previous level and see if you can kick booty with your leveled up characters.

Oh wait, I don't think they are random spawns (although I've not tried it), in which case it means you just suck ER.

yea, no random spawns so it sorta fails in that way.

Progressing slowly and still very happy with the game. I was pleased to discover that after causing a spider to fall through a trapdoor, it eventually found its way back to its room, I was even more pleased to discover that I was able to squash it by jumping down the trapdoor after it.

yes i remember this. the key is to make sure you kill all the bad guys so you get as much experience points as possible.

I remember a loong time ago I was playing one of the Bard's Tale games.
I hacked my characters so they were all 256th level (max) and set out to lay waste in the game.
The first thing I met were two dragons. Before I could do anything, the first one cast a spell on the whole party so they turned on each other.
They bludgeoned each other to death and the second dragon cast a "turn to stone" spell on the last guy standing, thus ending my reign of terror before it even started.

I was very impressed at the game AI for pulling that off. I reset my characters back to where they were supposed to be and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the game knowing it could take me out if it really wanted to do so. lol

Anyway ... LoG is reasonably tough. If you are caught off guard and unprepared, you gonna die !! Especially if you basically suck at video games like me.

I honestly don't remember which game it was, but I know I had that Bard's Tale but it might have been one of the later ones.
Remember the Wizardry games? Good times.
.. and of course, Eric the Unready. Still has to be one of the funniest games I've ever played.

Hi there, time for the first patch! The patch mainly fixes some bugs and improves compatibility on some more exotic systems, but we managed to slip in a few new features too. Fans of quick save/load should be pleased now and we also threw in volume sliders which has been a pretty popular request. But most importantly you can now import your favorite portraits into the game. Have fun with them!

The patch is save game compatible so no need to worry about losing your saves.

We have pushed the patch to Steam, GOG and our own store and it should be available once the distributors have done their magic, hopefully within 24 hours. Steam users will get the patch automatically, and if you bought the game from GOG or from us you can download the patched version of the game using the same way you obtained the original copy. But hold on a bit, it will take some time before the build gets updated on the servers

- bug fix: map labels are sometimes drawn partially underneath map symbols
- bug fix: topmost menu item doesn’t work reliably in high resolutions such as 2560×1440
- bug fix: wall text translations are not dismissed when right-clicking
- bug fix: inanimate objects can be backstabbed
- bug fix: projectiles go through doors in some very rare cases
- bug fix: saving the game crashes if all save game slots are full and the autosave slot is deleted or unused
- bug fix: Fighter’s Challenge doesn’t open if there’s an item in front of the door (only applies to new games, existing save games still have this bug)
- bug fix: saving the game just after the end fight creates a corrupted save that can lead to crashes and the end sequence not getting triggered correctly
- bug fix: auto pickup doesn’t pick up the correct amount of ammo in some rare circumstances
- bug fix: standing on stairs and turning with the mouse, followed by a turn using q/e keys is buggy
- bug fix: when a monster is damaged, experience point text sometimes (very rarely) flash in a square where a monster has been killed
- bug fix: trying to load a save game that has just been deleted manually from the file system (e.g. in Windows explorer) crashes the game
